Peerless model 3

I got my first pair of model 3 and i have to say i like them alot more than any other model i have. seems like the older they are the better they are made. I was excited and had to tell somebody thats cares, as all my friends and relatives are like big deal, they look the same as all your other ones. And im sure alot of you all have the same problem.

Awesome! I love getting new cuffs and I understand wanting to share your enthusiasm and being surrounded by people who could care less. This is the place to share your cuff experiences. Post some pics when you get a chance.

I've got a model 3 as well and I'm like you on the design.

I feel like a kid at Christmas when I get a new cuff.

They have some cosmetic wear but function flawlessly. when i got them they were pretty dirty and squeaky but after some tlc they are as good as the day they were made.Sorry the pictures are so blurry.

As far as swing through cuffs, the model 3 design definitely set the standard that's still in use today.

The Model 1's have slightly better machining tolerances and finishing quality, but the Model 3's aren't too far behind, in my opinion. The quality control seems to go down slightly with every subsequent model introduced.

Plus, the Model 3's seem to utilize ever-so-slightly thicker steel construction than any other post 1932 S&W or Peerless cuff used.

The Model 3's are a definite must for even the casual swing-through cuff collector.

I agree with the last post. Comparing my model 3s to the current model 700s is sad. The very last model 700s with the clear window box are a shame to these past models.

Plus I like the old style boxes as well. So well made and substantial.

I did find that the model 300 weighs 9.4 oz. and the model 3 weighs 10.4 oz. and the cheek plates on the model 3 are .015 thicker each plate.

Ditto for myself. It matters not which model/make they are shown; non-handcuff folks just can't appreciate the beauty of Beans and such.

Nice vintage model 3s. These cuffs have the nice stiff coil springs in lieu of the latter leaf springs.
I also suspect that the plating (chrome or nickel) was a tad thicker back in the day.

The highly sought 4th model in aluminum with the warded lock came out around 1954 I believe.
