Sadly, the convention is not going to happen this year; however, the people who are putting it on plan to have it next year instead. This is one of my own creations made from a pair of heavy-duty star-wheel (Takeda) style handcuffs and a few odds and inns from my workshop. It will fit a range of sizes from a small built woman to a great big husky man and everyone in between. It comes with a good working padlock, two padlock keys and one original handcuff key. The guy who was interested in the Takeda style handcuffs with box has not returned my last e-mail and I have to assume that he is not serious about buying them......therefore, they are back up for sale.

The gentleman in question asked me to send him some photos of the back sides of the cuffs and asked if there was any stampings or engravings on the cuffs so I took a few photos and answered his questions. I told him that they are stamped "Taiwan" on the back side and that was the only marking. When I did a close-up photo of the stamping, I got a little surprise.....the Taiwan stamp is a mirror stamp (stamped completely backwards)! I have checked all of my Taiwan made Takeda style cuffs and all the others are normal.....this one is an odd-ball! Both cuffs are stamped that way. I just looked at my pair like that and mine are normal.

BTW, I do have a pair that say Taiwan then R.O.C. underneath. They are made by Edge Mark. Would that marking be older than just the Taiwan models? I'm not familiar with Taiwan history so I'm not sure.

All my other Taiwan models are stamped correctly.

Not sure about dating them by the markings but generally speaking, the older ones are the steel constructed ones (not pot metal). This pair is from the late 1970's (from the intel I have gathered concerning when they were bought by the first owner). I think this was the last batch Taiwan kicked out before going to pot metal construction.....then they just started getting sad. Later, the release switches came along and they became mere toys.

I had a very heavy-duty one with a personalized serial number and a release switch (very small, almost hidden) down by the chain. I sold it at the Indy lock show this year. If you are really into this type of cuff, it is a really neat piece. If I can find an old photo, I will post it on the forum.
