Guys I have a question that is vexing me and Im curious about your input. Concerning the book Houdini the key and his underwater box escape on page 315 patrick you mention the "secret" is in an end panel. That is something I have used as well however something bothers me about the pic of the box and it came together while reading it again just now. I hope i can illustrate this with my words.
On the top outside of the box there is a cleat running the length of the boards in the center. There is no reason at all for this cleat, Ive wondered about it forever as the top boards all run the same direction. Ok, now when i look at page 320 again in the top of the box lid from the inside we see a matching cleat again running the length of the center of the lid, again no reason to be there.
Now when you visit page 56 and see the inside of his old metamorphosis trunk, again the same length running cleat. Did he just revisit an old comfortable to him tried and true idea?
My question is do you guys think the underwater box featured here is a "top" secret? my further idea goes to this because when the box is suspended and even in the water there is so much more easy room on the outside do to the physics of the ropes as opposed to a single rope running down the center of the ends of the box
Ive been accused of being of my rocker alot more than once,,but just thought i would take the time to run it by you guys,. am i nuts? (dont answer that last part lol)
Hey Michael - flattered to be included on your list here, but I'm afraid I'm no expert on Houdini's methods. I'm look forward to hearing the answer from the guys who are.
