I recently obtained a set of Smith & Wesson 3-way cuffs for my collection. I can't find any information on these. They are built similar to the Bean-Tower 3 way cuff only with modern S&W cuffs. I looked carefully at the chain & it all looks to be factory made. All three cuffs have the S&W logo on them. Does anyone have any information on this cuff? I have a S&W #100 3-way handcuff. I purchased it from Joe Tanner several years ago. It is my understanding that at the time, Joe was able to obtain these custom factory-made items to sell to customers. I see them as a S&W "novelty" handcuff, and not an item that was meant to be officially released to law enforcement.
The commercially-made 3-way handcuffs that were made around the 1900s - were meant to have the 3rd cuff locked around a solid object, or even to cuff 3 prisoners together at the same time.
