The autosol difference

I just wanted to share my experience with autosol to clean cuffs. I have been using Eagle one Nevr Dull and had good results. I got a american handcuff in the mail the other day and my old stuff just wouldn't cut the oxidation. That's when i remembered Derek Hoffman told me he uses autosol, and the cuffs he sales always look amazing. So i ordered some and i'm SOLD. Pics of before and after below.

Tim, This stuff is the best i have seen.

I was also reading in an older post about a product called evaporust. From it's website, i detect it is some pretty mean stuff. The military uses it to remove bluing from weapons.

From their website:

EVAPO-RUST is highly recommended by the NRA gunsmithing school and is utilized by FBI, CIA, NATO and other law enforcement and forensics agencies. EVAPO-RUST is perfect for removing oxide weapon finishes such as Bluing, Parkerizing, Zinc Phosphate, and Browning.

Anodizing, Cobalt Tungsten Carbide, Powder Coating, Chrome, Nickel, Paint, and most other coatings will not be removed as long as they do not contain oxides. EVAPO-RUST will not harm lead or solder points.


Ferrous oxide(rust) is also removed by this product.

Has anyone had any experiences with this stuff?

......and you have distroy the original finish. I've done that for an N-105 also shines now and she is no longer original matt. I've have two off this cuffs, matt and shiny. Autosol attack.

I cleaned the two pair with acetone, it worked fine.

Is that a standard N-105 American Munitions cuff?
Mine does not have the wide swing through bow.
I don't know a lot about US swing-throughs.
I just picked one up because it was $20.

Paul this is a juvenile cuff. It has wider bows than a standard n-105.

The American Handcuff Juvenile model is normally stamped JN-105.

That's cool. I was looking on stans cd and it looked like his was stamped jn-105 as well but he had a sticker over the J. i could onlt see the edge of something, so i suspected that others were stamped jn-105 but mine clearly is not. Just curious what is the serial number on yours?

Well.. Now i'm wondering if this is an early version that they were experimenting with before they started producing a model jn-105 or if it was maybe a later version. I don't know it may even just be a set that the j didn't stamp enough on. The set on stan's cd is about a thousand off of your serial number. Any thoughts?

Mine came new in the box, and my box has the snake on it which is the last model box. Stan had the old box pictured with his. So i now believe mine is a later model. Maybe some of the last batch didn't have a J. It would be interesting to know if anyone else has a set stamped like this.

I have some stuff given to my from a friend called Hoosier Metal Polish that is the best stuff ever. It will remove just about anything with a little elbow grease. It will remove gun bluing, any kind of tarnish from any kind of metal, leaving an almost mirror finish. I used on a pair of peerless model 3's and you can't even tell they were blued. I also used it on my expandable baton that was just a black steel and now it looks like a nickel or chrome finish. Just a heads up to another amazing polish that really works. I had posted some pics of my model 3's a while ago and you can see the bluing on it was a little worn around the edges, but i'll post a pic of them and the baton so you can see the diff.

I didn't find Autosol at my local AutoZone. I asked but they don't carry it.

Probably a sure bet to just order from the ebay seller.
