Dang he has alot of cool keys. As far as my favorite to use, I gotta pick the streamlight. But my coolest looking key has to be that american twister key.

Mark, I do believe that first key is made from a 9mm shell, most likely of the winchester 115 grain variety.

I do believe you are right. I have seen these in all sizes, mostly 308.
ASP used to make a pocket knife set with a cuff key. Kept bidding on them when they were on eBay, but never won any.
It would have been the highlight of a key collection.
I like the belt buckle key in Joseph's collection the most.
I have a pen style key that has the old style Peerless key at the tip.
They are cheaper than a regular old style Peerless key would cost.
I imagine this thread will produce some very cool keys to look at.

I bought it off the internet a few years ago..I no longer have the specific website.

There are no manufacturer's markings on the pen to assist.

btw - it is a real working pen...but with a permanent "cuff key" tip.

Wow! 30 smackaroos for the LockWrite. That's considerably more than I paid for my Streamlight Cuffmate key. Is there a way to double-lock the cuffs other than jamming the ball into the recess? Many LEOs use a Fisher Space Pen because it allows you to jot down notes at any angle on almost any surface. Does the LockWrite also use a pressurized cartridge?


I'd sooner lose the judge than part with that key.

Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me the purpose of the cutout on the side of the keys on the right of the picture. It looks like a "w", and is pointy. Nobody I know seems to know what that pointy thing is for.

Yes, This "W" shaped cutout does have a specific use and it is totally unrelated to law enforcement or in particular, the use of applying or removing handcuffs.

It is for spreading a split ring key chain. Why they added this feature to a handcuff key is unexplained and highly unusual.
The middle point of the handcuff key is pushed into the 2 halves of the split ring.

Kind of like this;

The below are some unusual items that contain a cuff key.

This was a promotional give away item from ASP.
They gave these to their top sellers and distributors.
They never sold these but I think they should have.
This one was very hard to find.


This is their Leatherman style knife set. (Same as above)


This is an item that all law enforcement should know about when searching their subject.

The Triple K 814 was the first handcuff key that I ever owned. I bought one at a gun shop many moons ago; before I ever owned a pair of cuffs. Mine has the flag filed down somewhat to make it, "more universal." I suppose it shall always hold a special place in my heart.

Scroll down and see the "Ultimate Handcuff Key" all you must require is a Smith And Weston key for their normal handcuff and slightly modify it. You dont need the slit in the middle unless you have strange handcuffs from the far east.
