Gotcha Handcuffs Delayed

Well I got a message from Gotcha last night that their new handcuffs have run into production delays and will now not be in prodcution until at least October. Sounds familiar to the last time Gotcha tried to release handcuffs and failed. I hope that they get it figured out and actually release handcuffs this time around.

Thank you for your interest and purchase of Gotcha Composite restraints. Our restraints are like no others on the market (they are not on the market yet) and have the highest engineering standards and tolerances (We will be the judge of that). It is precisely because of these standards and design tolerances, that we are experiencing delays from the companies that are manufacturing some of our components (could not figure this out before announcing a release date?). One such component is not due to arrive for testing before the end of the month (Just now going to test this component? If it fails how long then?). Therefore, we do not have an exact estimate as to when production will commence (If it ever commences).


When we attended various shows earlier in the year we were confident that our August ship date was a safe estimate (Just building the hype to keep everyone interested). That obviously turned out not to be the case. I also called and got the same story ..this new handcuff is like the tri lock handcuff they tri it (lol) and it flopped so now gotcha has come out with the plastic handcuff...for you who want to escape from the new gotcha handcuff carry a lighter this company with bill behind them again will fail again ...real cops carry real handcuffs NOT lego toys

Production delays do happen. ASP is delaying their new ultra handcuff and they are an established company but nobody has said anything about that. I certainly wish they (FBIC) would've shipped on time but these things happened and I'm willing to give these guys a chance. I believe they're trying their best and have good intentions.

Personally I think there is alot of hype and the reason he really only wants LE's is the fact people like us will quickly figure out that the cuff can be compromised. I've never heard the word "composite" used in the description/construction of a handcuff or related item. Like Tom said above, when I have one in my hands to examine and play with will be the deciding factor, not some unsubstantiated claims. Just sounds like typical sales BS, I think Taper is making claims that his checks can't cash. As for ASP, I have never been a big fan of them, the way they conduct business, there product vs. price, and quality is lacking in there handcuff line. One day the truth will come out about Bill Taper and what really happened, and it won't be pretty...

Dear Valued Customer,



I thank you for your interest in our Composite Gotcha restraints. When we met you at the various shows earlier this year, we forecast that we would be in production sometime in August. This was based on forecast delivery of components by the companies who make their respective parts.



Regrettably, this has not proven to be the case. We were informed that delivery of a critical production component would not be until late August. That part did arrive last Friday. Unfortunately,

the part was made incorrectly and cannot be used.



This means that the tooling for the part will have to be modified and once modified the part will have to be tested.



At this point I can only speculate that we will be able to ship production units sometime in October. We will contact you once the delivery schedule becomes firm.



We are disappointed but will not compromise our design standards just to meet a specific deadline. The production handcuffs are smoother, stronger and in many ways improved over what you saw at the show.



We only get one chance to deliver to you the finest handcuff ever produced and we will not deliver anything less than that.

at my department weve found about 25 old pairs of gotchas and we need keys any idea where we can find them
