Howdy,

I figure it best to ask for the general knowledge of those interested. I see the dings that you pointed out in the photos and then mention of no key, however I was wondering if you know if they actually work appropriately or if that is the point of the "as they are"?

I don't know about working of locking mechanism, it seems that dent may be pushing the bow. So there's possibility that it has damaged the mechanism.

I'm selling them "as they are", that buyer don't expect fully working piece.

So these are not by now means in "great" shape. But at least they're in one piece and look good from the other side.

I have got good offers and I wait to Monday. If I don't get any better ones in weekend, I have buyer already. Thanks.

Hi, The cuff is fastened by one spring which runs from the back of the cuff to the front and has a hook 9?) tip which locks the cuff.

If the cuff has not been tested with a key and sold as is. It is worth nothing. A $10.00 wall hanger

If the cuff is sold as working but with dents, then a drop is value is expected.

I would have preferred to see a value/price given than to run a clandestine auction.

Ian, I respect your work very highly, but I disagree about your comment. Reason is that I have sold handcuffs, which were not tested with key (because there weren't key) with quite much more than $10.00. And buyers have been happy and seller too.

Hi there!

You shouldn't be too fastidious on condition...

I had one of my cuffs on the floor of the garage and forgot about them.
This is what they look now!!! It's a shame!

Yes Mark, right on target!

This cuff was listed on a Swedish auction site and I'm pretty sure
it has been dug up. What a shame on such nice cuff!

Oh, I thought perhaps it was found on one of the lake dive explorations you wrote about a couple of years ago.

I looked up the word "shame" in the dictionary and coincidentally, they had the same picture!

Ha, ha! Shame is the word! We have not yet managed to locate and pick up the stuff in the lake
but I'm sure the condition to them is much better as the lake is sweet water with very low percentage
of oxygene. It makes them preserved.

The set on the picture is probably dug up from the mud and wouldn't even serve as a wall hanger.

The Kakola is actually one of my absolute favorite cuffs. I know you have a set and I think you agree
with me. The quality is superior and at least as good as the German cuffs from the same time.

But... I would never add a set to my collection unless they are flawless and in good condition.

"hmmm, I brought that that rusty Bean Giant back from the dead, maybe I can do the same with that Kakola, if Lars will sell it to me for $5.00 ".

I think that I was one of the owners of that rusty Kakola.

I know I sold or traded a very similar rusty one - to someone here?

I think I originally obtained it from Santini.

I hope it found a good home.

This is very funny, if someone could bring this crappy and rusty Kakola back form the dead, it should be John.
I also remeber the Bean Giant and the Wisner. John did extremely well on them.

The cuff on the picture is not the very cuff Joe F sold to Joe L; this one is currently listed on a Swedish
auction site. If someone feels temted... John...???? -I will gladly help to connect to the seller.
I'm sure the price will be negotiable and not very high. -Just drop me an email!

I also agree with Joe (L); these cuffs are among the moste secure, no picks in the world would ever open them.

HI everyone,
I do indeed want that Kakola. When it last was in my hands, or a time or two before that I would have agreed
there was no hope. I have more tools now. I had it when Joe Fox owned it, and then again saw it at Joe Lauhers. Well, for $5.00,
heck, even $100, I'd buy it and accept the challenge of opening it. I know it was pretty much one piece, and
not separate pieces like they should be. But, liquid wrench is amazing stuff, along with dental probes, screwdrivers,
hammers, a vise, and then a cold chisel, welder, and sledge hammer. A foundry, casting sand, and wooden molds also may be needed.
But after all is said and done, I would hope to have a working Kakola. Unfortunately, I'm sure Joe wouldn't part with this wonderful cuff for anything.

Hi, did the cuff sell and for what price?? Just curious as I would like to know if they worked. If they had worked I was going to spend $700, so i was wondering who took the risk and at what cost??

Sorry about late answers. Weekend goed on tv-shootings and now I have tried to catch all work and emails etc.

Thanks for Lars to giving some substance for this topic.

As an escape artist I say that it would be very unconfortable to be placed to those Lars pointed rusty Kakola cuffs: "Ok, now squish your hands little bit more so I can cuff you!" Then the challenge: "Ok, now pick them open."

Joe F, I think Santini got Kakolas from Timo Tuomivaara.

Ian, I sold my Kakola cuffs with very good price, but because agreement with the buyer I won't say more. He can say if he wants.
