Short and sweet visit but I came across this reference to Webley as a manufacturer of handcuffs in the 1860 - 1870 period. Reference is made to ship leg irons which may be a bilbo design rather than a darby.

It is always nice to hear about another manufacturer. I wonder if they ever produced cuffs with their own mark. Who knows?
