I believe that the actual French Letter Lock handcuff does exist and is now owned by Jon Oliver. It is common knowledge that Ian created his facsimile based on the cuffs owned by Jon. If you have full access to askalexander, you can find quite a lot of documentation about the French Letter Lock Cuffs (cuffs, not "a handcuff") and Kleppini. It is also in my book. What is not in my book is the fact the the lock's combination can be reset in seconds. John Bushey learned that after I published "Houdini--the Key."

Ian's reproduction is very well done and should include a nice wood display case and booklet with the history of the handcuff. There is also a letter of authenticity from Ian McColl.
