I'm looking to buy Non-collector handcuffs. What I want is sets or groups of handcuffs that have no real collector value, Peerless or Smith Wesson preferred but will consider any other quality brand cuffs, like American munitions and such, just not the cheap china, or similar ones you can buy new for $6 dollars.

The cuffs I'm looking at usually sell on e-bay anywhere from $9.99- $15.00 dollars plus shipping. I need them to be in good shape, could have bluing loss, light rust spots, small scratches. But I want to stay away from major defects or aftermarket markings and stampings that are POORLY done or ground off. Good looking stamping are OK. Like (D.O.J.) or L.A.P.D.

I'm willing to offer around $10 per cuff plus an extra $1 or so per cuff for shipping. The more you can shove in a small, "if it fits, it ships" USPS box, the better this deal is for you! Many of you probably have these just sitting in a junk pile somewhere away from your good cuffs.

I figure this is a decent offer because it saves you the time and hassle of listing, paying e-bay fees and pay-pal fees. So you end up making the same anyway.

My intent is to have these in the counter of my knife and tobacco shop or take them to knife and gun shows to put on the table. I am looking for some old handcuffs that you probarbly have in a junkpile and want to get rid of. What I want is Berliners, dortmunder, kakola, lilly leg and hand irons, judd, jersy and a junk iron thats non as the seance handcuff.

Usually they sell for 5-15 USD and you can pay the postage and send them to me and save a lot of money. I will haggle and sell them for 2500-20 000 USD a piece in a coffe shop.

I figure this is a decent offer because it saves you the time and hassle of listing, paying e-bay fees and pay-pal fees. So you end up making the same if not more, if you shove 6 cuffs in a box thats 6.00, only cost 5.90 USPS (if it ships it fits box) with tracking number.

Are we looking at the same ebay? Too me it seems someone can through a severly used and abused model 100 cuff up put vintage in the title and the dang thing will sell for more than a new one. I see 20 dollar cuffs sell for 35 all the time.

That's what I was saying. Used beat up cuffs sell for more than brand new cuffs on ebay. Do a completed auction search. Toy handcuffs sell fro under 10 bucks but legitimate police handcuffs sell for much higher.

I don't think jim is gets it. Most older modern police cuffs that he is looking for get listed on ebay starting at around $20. plus $5-$9 shipping. If they are listed lower, they usually get bidded up to between $15-$20 depending on what the item is. I have recently been watching a bunch of these type cuffs hoping to get severl pairs cheap, like jim is trying to do, and I was s.o.l. in the end. I think jim will be s.o.l. too. Keep holding your breath bud.

Ok, but lets stop a think a min. with a $2 - $2.50 listing fee, a final sale price fee and a pay pal fee, I know as a seller, that I'm wasting my time listing the type of handcuffs I'm talking about because when your done you make nothing on them. I should know, I have over 250 feedback score with 90% going to buying and selling handcuffs. Which is why I sell these type of cuffs locally, so I get all of the selling price not just some of it. I have bid on and been out bid on several in the last two weeks that have sold for around 15-18 dollors, minus the listing and selling fees and figure in the time to take pictures, write a listing, and package and ship one set at a time how much since dose it make to sell the kind I'm talking about on e-bay.

But I'll just have to find another source for these non-collector used beat up cuffs that no one wants to sell.

Let me break it down for you.

The link you just posted sold for 11.30 plus 5.20 shipping. For a total of $16.50.

Your offer was 10.00 plus 1.00 for shipping. For a total of $11.00.


Now lets assume that I was the seller. I have 50 free insertion fees per month, which i have not used. Most people probably don't use them all. So it is free for me to put it on ebay. 16.50 minus free insertion fee= 16.50

Now final value fee is 9% on an auction style listing. 9% of 16.50 is 1.49. 16.50 - 1.49 = 15.01

Paypal fees on 16.50 is .30 plus 2.9%. Paypal fees are .78. 15.01-.78=14.23

Then of course unless you wanted to drive to my house to pick them up to save me a shipping charge, shipping would cost me the same.

14.23 is still more than your offer of 11 bucks per pair. Besides for every auction you list that goes low, I can list 5 that go higher than they should have.

Occasionally you may see a cuff sell low enough on ebay where your offer may be better, but usually it is because whoever is selling them puts them in the wrong category or leaves keywords out of the title that the search would pick up. Winchester cuffs were made in Taiwan buddy. The plant is still open, manufacturing identical cuffs to the Winchesters just with different brands. Winchester cuffs were discontinued but are still available for 20 bucks new. Why they sold for 48 is beyond me. Smith and wesson doesn't make model 94's anymore either. 94's are collectible, but in my opinion any cuff is collectible to the right person.

Well JimmyD I just put it all together. You are the guy that sold the winchesters for 48 bucks. I wasn't aware that that was you until right now. So now you are looking for other cuffs like that to resale on ebay. I get it.

By the way, I'm not too convinced that the smith and wesson "green" box you sold during the same week was green. Perhaps it was sunfaded, because smith and wesson military cuffs (model 95) came in a brown cardboard box that is similar to how a set of american munitions would have came. And why would they used blue metal corners on a green box. It just doesn't make any sense to me. ANYONE ElSE HAVE AN OPINION or a green S&W Box? Those were nice cuffs tho, I even bid on them.

The cuffs I sell on e-bay are all good quality cuffs, many of those cuffs I bought from Ian, Stan, and others on this site over the last 7 years, Are you going to call them con artist too? You will notice I have 100 percent feedback. The Smith box was really green, the whole box, not just the top or side or one piece top or bottom, like it would be if it was sun faded. The blue corners is easy to explain, it simply would not be cost effective to order or make a totally different kind of rivet, just for a small order of military cuffs when you already have millions laying around the plant floor even though the box was green. Companies cut corners like this all the time. I also offer a return policy on everything I sell on ebay, if anyones not happy, Ill take them all back. Look at my feedback and see who my buyers are, they are founding members of this site, they can tell you I bought many of those cuffs from them, and they have bought many from me.

The cuffs I was selling are all new, like new, or mint condition, or had something special about them. I don't list rusty, non-collectable, or stamped cuffs on e-bay because of the low profit and selling value.

Like I said for those of you that can't read. The cuffs I wanted were to put on the shelf in my store or at gun shows, the low quality I was looking for would never sell for any kind of profit on line. I was very honest with you. I offered a fair price very comparable to selling price on e-bay. All I wanted was the break for combined shipping. I can buy peerless and Smith all day on e-bay for 10.00 but buying one at a time with 5 shipping cuts into profits.

I offered a deal that was fair to the seller, saved e-bay fees, and gained combined shipping for me. There is nothing wrong with trying to save me (the buyer) money while making the seller more. WE, THE SELLER and BUYER don't need to always be paying more, making less just to be able to share some with large corporations like E-bay, and Paypal.

Further more I have bought cuffs from everyone on the site for over 7 years now and have acquired quite a big collection, but the more I get to know about other collectors the more I hate collecting. There are a few people on here that I admire and respect, (you know who you are) but the rest of you are stuck up jerks. I will be selling the rest of my collection and don't expect to buy anymore. I have lost my love of the hobby. It never fails, that when I buy something it's the best set of cuffs out there but when I'm forced to sell them to pay a light bill everyone I bought them from tells me how big pieces of junk they are or how I'm ripping someone off.

You as collectors should be encouraging others to collect, welcoming new collectors and passing on the knowledge of collecting, not putting items down when they are being sold and bragging them up when they are being bought. Unless something is in your collection it's junk. Sounds less like a hobby and more like a Business.

Yes Jim, you are right, WE are the problem here. If it is not a business for you, then why don't you buy up a bunch of cuffs from ebay at $10 each and $5 shipping then sell them for $20 like you told us you are planning on doing? If its not about the money, then $5 profit on each pair shouldn't bother you. I believe you were trying to get decent cuffs cheap and sell them for 200% profit or more at your gun shows. Better yet, why don't you buy all the Winchester cuffs that Handcuff Warehouse has for $20 each and continue to sell them on ebay for more than double the cost?

Speaking for myself, all I was saying is that I haven't seen the green box and I'm a huge S&W fan but up till recently, I'd never seen the generic S&W brown box either so evidently Smith had alot of changes.

I bid quite ferociously on both of your nice S&W auctions and I believe I was 2nd highest bidder on the old style, and pretty high up there on the green box. I'm a S&W fan so of course, they appealed to me.

The way I see it, you posted an offer to buy, I simply can't accommodate that with the prices I pay so I can't help you. I told you in an email the best I could do with the source I have and obviously it wasn't agreeable so no big deal.

So are you saying you have 100 percent positive feedback because the buyers know they are giving 2.4x full blown retail prices on a 20 dollar set of winchesters? I didn't think so. You have been to gun shows Dennis, how many pairs do you find for $20 or less? I think he is a liar and a crook, that is how he is coming off to me. I'm looking to buy Non-collector handcuffs. What I want is sets or groups of handcuffs that have no real collector value, Peerless or Smith Wesson preferred but will consider any other quality brand cuffs, like American munitions and such, just not the cheap china, or similar ones you can buy new for $6 dollars.

The cuffs I'm looking at usually sell on e-bay anywhere from $9.99- $15.00 dollars plus shipping. I need them to be in good shape, could have bluing loss, light rust spots, small scratches. But I want to stay away from major defects or aftermarket markings and stampings that are POORLY done or ground off. Good looking stamping are OK. Like (D.O.J.) or L.A.P.D.

I'm willing to offer around $10 per cuff plus an extra $1 or so per cuff for shipping. The more you can shove in a small, "if it fits, it ships" USPS box, the better this deal is for you! Many of you probably have these just sitting in a junk pile somewhere away from your good cuffs.

I figure this is a decent offer because it saves you the time and hassle of listing, paying e-bay fees and pay-pal fees. So you end up making the same anyway.

My intent is to have these in the counter of my knife and tobacco shop or take them to knife and gun shows to put on the table. I usually sell these for around $20.00 or (less if they haggle) so I have to keep my cost down to be able to make a profit.
