Green S&W BOX or NOT?

Has anyone seen a green box for S&W before. The seller listed it as a military cuff, but i don't buy into it. Why would the corners be blue? Why would all markings still be on the cuffs unlike the 95. And the 95 which is smith and wesson's true military cuff comes in a plain cardboard box kinda like a american munitions box. It looks like a blue box that has been left in the sun too long to me, But what do you guys think?

It doesn't look like a blue box that has sat in the sun to me. It looks like a different color box all together, it may very well be a military issued model or something. I have never seen one like that! Nice! I would be curious to hear other opinions about it.

First one I've seen. Tough to say without seeing it in person. Who knows.

Personally, I don't believe those cuffs go with that box. Justin if you look closely at the swivels, it should look familiar to a pair I've got and I believe the cuffs are much older than the box.

Could just be a normal sized cuff with different swivels though.

I was the seller of these cuffs.

I bought these cuffs many years ago, they came in that box. I can't remmember who but I bought them from somebody on this forum. I inspected them for many years and done alot of research but never found another pair like them.

The box dose appear to be green, when I first aquired them I too questioned them and assumed they were sun faded, but every inch of both top and bottom box is the same. I would think if sun faded they would be blue on one side or part and faded on another, even more is the shinny outer layer of the cardboard is all still shinny I would think any amount of sun damage enought to change color from blue to green would result in this outer layer to be more dull.

The blue corners didn't suprise me, since companys reduce cost by cutting corners all the time. I imagine this must have been a small run, and instead of incuring the extra cost of producing special green rivets they used one of the millions they already had laying around.

As for the cuffs themselfs weather or not they belonged to this box I could not attest to. I bought them with this box and assumed they belonged to this box. I did find it curious about the swivel style, sn# location and detent location. I don't know enought about the times all these changes took place to put a exact year on the cuffs, But most the cuffs I see with the SN# in the old location had the detent in the middle of the lock case.

I have alot of confidence that this was a Military box, and even at the worst case senario a mistake that shouldn't have left the factory, like a bad batch of boxes, which would also be very collectable. The cuffs them selfs were mint. I hope the person that got them will enjoy them as much as I did, and put them in there rightful place in a complete Smith Wesson Cuff collection.
I really did hate to part with them.

Are they physically smaller that the later model 90s? I have a pair with similiar swivels but they were much more "petite" and when I weighed them they only weighed 8.3 oz compared to 8.5 for the 50s center detent models and 9.5ish for the later Bangor Punta model 90s.

My theory is that they are the models produced in 1952 that was replaced by the "improved" center detent model (heavier swivels) in 1956 which is why I said your box may not be original.

Nice cuffs. I wanted to win but they just went too high for my blood. Good for you though.

No, they were not smaller like the ones with the center detent, they were the larger ones like the detent over the key hole. I wish I could tell you more but no longer have them. I did find everthing about them very interesting though.

Wow. The pair I have with the swivels like that are physically smaller than even the center detent models but I thought yours looked different still. I've heard that there have been several "transitional" pair spotted with overlapping features.
