I made a working key by supergluing a nail in the end of a standard key and cutting it off. It wobbles but works. The hole where the keyhole post would normally go in is slightly oversized compared to a munitions with a keyhole post. An early peerless key won't work either because the tip that goes in the hole is too small.

Long story short, my key is severely crude looking and I would like an original key, but if i can't get it I would be fine with a repro-key.

I'll shoot some photo's in a few minutes, but I think yossies site shows them as well.

It looks like someone has removed the key posts from the cuffs. I, like Ian, have not seen a AM solid key either.

I don't believe there was ever an American Munitions handcuff made that didn't have a key post. I can't say that I've ever seen anyone's collection that had an actual example without a key post.

Personally I believe one of the posts on your set of cuffs were broken off and the owner than drilled or punched the other post out.

You can purchase an old peerless key that was used on their cuffs that lacked a key post originally.

They did make it. Stan willis has one on his cd as well.

And like I said before an early peerless key does not fit right.

Also search the forum. They made them.

American Munitions made both the handcuffs and leg irons with solid key .

I still have my handcuffs and sold the leg irons , IOB some years back ...

Absolutely, A.M. had solid-key models : HC & LI.

A standard barrel-key will operate the cuffs, btw.

I'm sure these keys were listed in Cannon's catalog(?)

If it's not too much trouble will you post a pic of your key. I'm curious to see what it looks like. Stan had two AM solid keys on his cd so I'm not sure if one was a remake.

Had a pair of these nice cuffs many years ago. I used a Peerless (genuine, new) post style key. Worked OK on those cuffs! Maybe I was lucky, also used a ZAK # 19 key which has a hardened working end and the "flag" is slightly longer by 10 to 12 Thou., if I remember correctly. Hope this helps; Ian from Canada.

Pretty sure there as a Nickel plated and a blued version in both keyways.

As stated the AM were made with a solid key patter in both handcuffs and leg irons.
Pictures of keys as requested. The keys differ a little.

I'm gonna hit a couple antique shops this weekend and see if i can find a key that looks like those. It appears they had several different styles for the non working end of the key. So hopefully I find something that looks like it fits in with the pictures you guys posted, if not it looks like i'm stuck using a standard key with a nail superglued in the end for a guide.
