The set of flexibles you are offering look wonderful, I have come across about 8 sets in the past 40 years and now have just two sets in my collection. One is in mint condition nickel plated that I got from Don Hinz, the other is a much earlier model marked Patent Pend.
Its a pity the set you are offering are the standard key - I am after the model 125 Sheffield Key type. I only know of 2 of these (Joe has a set and I know just one in a collection over here in England) - There is a possibility that a 3rd set exists and I have asked the owner on numerous occassions to send me a photo - no luck so far.
So does anyone else have the Sheffield Pattern Key flexibles??

Howdy Chris,

Could I bother to ask you exactly what do the markings on both of your flexibles say and where? As shown mine say "Patent 40 Hiatt" on the fixed bow and "British Made" near the key hole. I have two other examples that read the exact same with the exception of the number which is changed on each and is also stamped on the keys. I've heard about 4 different variants and was wondering if I can add one or two more to that list. Also, does the swivel and key match on both of yours?

I certainly agree that it is a shame that I don't have the Sheffield key flexible available for sale...becasue if I did that would mean I have two!

Mine has a regular key with no markings. The bow is marked PATENT 152, HAITT, A BRITISH BROAD ARROW, and the number 1.

I check my set with standard key. It's funny, it has the even number "100" stamped to them (and the key).
For many years I thought the number was the model number. Is this number considered to be a serial number
as they all differ???
This set came from the police museum in my hometown for more than 30 years ago.

I had the chance to see Joe's set with Sheffield key pattern while visiting him a few weeks ago, it's certainly
a nice and super rare cuff.

Here are some pictures of my Hiatt flexibles.


This is the standard pair. The markings next to the key holes say BRITISH MADE, the markings on the bow says HIATT. No numbers. The standard key has no markings.


This is the Sheffield model. The markings next to the key holes also say BRITISH MADE, the markings on the bow say PATENT 29 HIATT. The Sheffield key is marked 29 and HIATT.

Thanks for photos everyone. I've been trying to acquire a Hiatt Flexible for about 30 years.
Ever since I saw my first one at Mark Lundblads, and then another in the Harry Monti collection,
I've been trying to get one of these. I've only seen a few for sale, and never got one. Thanks
for giving us a chance at one Joshua, and thanks for great photos of the Sheffield pattern version.
