It says Hiatts made in England. Is the Safariland a later overstamp?

Nope, They have no serial number. This cuff was made when safariland was playing with different logo designs. The safariland is etched deeply into the cuffs. I have other cuffs that are similar to this one.

BLACKBURN; Very Interesting, and looking like great collectibles.. Questions (1) Are these the composite steel and alloy model ? (2) Are the "Safariland" and Hiatts actual Stampings ie. impressed into the body plate(s)
Comments; The current production have the Safariland electro or laser etched ?
The connecting chain pictured is "electrical, fusion welded" a standard process for commercial, steel chain production. The current Safariland 'Cuffs have a TIG welded chain. The swivel bullets appear identical to current production. FYI, I am looking at a "new" just out of the box pair of Safariland over-sized, steel, nickel plated, chain, cuffs.

I believe Safariland has bought the old Hiatts operation when Hiatts folded their tents.

This is the steel model not the stelloy. The hiatt logo is stamped just like any 2010. The safariland is engraved into the cuff about a 1/16th of an inch. It is pretty noticeable by running your fingers across it.

Blackburn; My apologies for not commenting on the "so obvious"..Great Photos! Every posting should try to meet your standards. (I should talk, I still can't get Photobucket to work for me..My Fault not the Bucket). Another Comment..It has been a much reported saga, the sale of Hiatts to BAE and the relocation of manufacturing to the US with Safariland as the New Owner. I would guess that the "actual" production ie. metal-working and packaging has been Jobbed Out to specialists in the Metal-Stamping Industry. I asked about the "Safariland & Hiatt" markings, they looked like and you confirmed that they are "stamped into the metal". They are most likely formed by replaceable inserts, fastened into the Stamping Dies. This is a normal practice in these types of Cutting-Forming operations. Take 'em out and put in some other name for Off-Brand sales, or just leave the stamping unmarked and "etch" in the whose-ever name you need for this "Run".
