Hi Jack, I'll go with real magic too.

Over at another website (Magic cafe) there is always talk of REAL magic versus magician made magic.
eg, John Goncz in his last posting threatened a guy with REAL magic, he said " I will Baptize him and turn him into a Christian. Never heard from him again...."

So with a bit of water and a few phrases he scared away someone with real magic, it's kind of similar to the card trick.

A girlfriend of mine saw this too, she was convinced it was real. I told her it was very real CGI,,
She looked closer at it and said I believe you that its not a real card man, I dont even see an Ace Hole LOL

The Lowdown on this is:

Fellows name is David Cremmins, used to be a bar tender at Molly Malones here in NYC ( a group of us local magi's would meet there in the 90s,)- he is now a local comedy magician here.

Appears to have created somewhat of a Buzz with this 'Created ' piece of CGI, quite clever but NOT real magic.!
Certinally not the kind the lord Jesus Christ was known to have accomplished. ( Enter Ian )
Maybe the "trick' is to have as many people circulate footage around as possible and hope that somthing gels from it .

I believe it is real magic. Obviously he has sold his soul to Satan to gain this power just like David Blaine did in order to levitate off the ground. Criss Angel has sold his soul to Satan for similar abilities too, you just can not fake stuff like that! It is the ONLY explanation!

It has to be real magic because I can see it happening but I can not explain it. It has to be Satan's dark power because Jesus would not grant someone that ability and HE is the only other being who can grant power to mortals. I would NEVER sell my soul to Satan for such abilities! I hope he enjoys entertaining people with his little magic trick in HELL!!!! Because that is where he is going!

The term real magic is used in many ways. When someone performs stage magic and say they have special powers that is fraud.
Performing magic like Blackstone, Houdini or Thurston is defined as "Magic is the legitimate art of deception" because the audience knows they are being fooled for entertainment purpose.
On the other hand when some magicians talk of Grandmasters like Cardini they talk of him doing real magic. It is not because he is not doing tricks it is because he has mastered these slights to such a high degree that is what real magic would look like.
It is hard for me to believe in this day and age anyone who sees a magician floating could in any way think that was real or has anything to do with the devil. Norm

Relax guys, the Bye Bell Nutt post was just me being facetious about the whole "real magic" thing. Where I am from, there are people who say and believe the very things in the Bye Bell Nutt post and they are very scary people. Personally, I don't believe in any of that nonsense and I really HATE when people like Blaine and Angel try to "suggest" they possess "real powers"(weather it is, in their actions or in having their crew or stooges say things that "suggest" these things). I went round and round with the Mentalist formally known as Steve Shaw about this a few years ago on the Tragic Cafe' and it got REAL ugly!

Videos like the one of the little card man are disturbing to me. For starters, it suggests that magicians can really do things like that......the crowd did not even act all that impressed about it, further suggesting that it was not all that difficult to do! Now some poor shlub going out to work someone's kid's Birthday party is going to be asked to do that "simple little card trick" and when he can't, HE looks like an ass. People, especially LAY people watching stuff like this don't realize it is camera tricks. Some people get an unrealistic expectation about magicians and other people go thinking the Devil is involved. So what happens when some crazy Bible nut thinks the guy in the video has a Demon in him and shoots him to "set him free"? I am sure some nut, somewhere knows who he is, these people are everywhere and from all walk s of life. I grew up with a guy who went out of his mind in his early 20's and tried to stab Jimmy Page when he was on stage performing with Robert Plant. The reason? Because he thought that Jimmy Page was in cahoots with the Devil and was corrupting people. I also personally know some people who are 100% convinced that Angel and Blaine are minions of the Devil and that they sold their souls to him......some of these nuts even handle venomous snakes and drink Strychnine to prove that God's spirit is on them. The cousin to a person I have known for many years died from a Copperhead bite in the mid 1990's trying to prove his theory.......but he was given the Darwin Award and a proper burial instead.

Penn Gillette said it best when he said, "Magic is fake.....".

Sorry if not everyone seen the humor in my post or thought it was serious.

Yes stage magic is fake but it is also an ancient and honorale art used as entertainment.
Years ago a religious group came to my home because of some publicity I got and "ordered" me to burn all my magic because it was from the devil. I tried to explain the difference between stage magic and their quotes from the Old Testament which was talking about something totally different to no avail.
Magic often gets a bad rap. To say you have special powers is fraud but to get people to believe it without making the claim is an art and is exactly what Houdini did. The more he said he didn't have special powers the more people believed he did and he knew it.
That is what good presentation of magic is.

The corruption is of people is subtle, those who are in power of the believe system control it. It is normally unchanging, you are forbidden to question it and they make heaps of money because its tax free.
Its not those who wish to kill to remove Devil from inside someone or those who tried to ban Monty Pythons Life of Brian who are the worst. Its those who mind control their children with 2000 year old stories of so called miracles and magic tricks as if they are the truth and stop their offspring from having open minds.
Its a bit like North Korea and how people there are lead to believe that Kim Jong Ill could control the weather. Told something fanciful time and time again, people will believe it. Given enough time, people believe it to be the truth.
The Australian Aborigines have been around for more than 40 thousand years and believe in the dream time, a time when all mysterious things happened which answers all the big questions. Try telling them they are totally wrong.
If people where better educated, they would be able to look at the card trick video and either say, its done by CGI or just say I dont know
You dont need REAL magic to fill the void of lack of understanding.
