For those who attended Indy last year there were more handcuff collectors gathered
in one place than any other time I know of. Over 20 of us joing the Crossroads of America
Padlock show in Indianapolis including myself, Elliot Cutler, Gordon Gluff, Fred Pittella,
Joshua Ohlmeier, Damon Shields, Clyde Lowe, Paul Reardon, Ron Spits, Mark Lundblad, Mark
Lyons, The Amazing Michael, Mauri Willis (Stan's wife), Michael Busch and many others.
We had a great time, and most went home with handcuffs!

Well, Indy is coming up in a few months. The dates this year are April 21 and 22. Many of us were there early. I hope many of you will consider joining us again, or coming
perhaps for the first time. It should be a great time, with over 90 dealers of
padlocks, and several of restraints. I can guarantee there will be a large number of handcuffs/leg irons,

I will be there again this year and I will have some stuff to sell as well as some eye candy for display. I really hope John Goncz sends the "pick proof" handcuffs to keep me busy! =)

I will have a good high quality camera to photograph everything and I will post photos here for those who can't make it. I hope to see as many collectors out there as possible!

Michael, Lars, and my friends who can't be there:

We will miss you this year. It's too bad because the 4 ER cuffs, 3 Guiteau's,
17 palmers, and 3 Lilly irons need buyers. That's in addition to the 100 cuffs
that will be brought by another seller. OK, the 100 cuffs--I'm 100% serious; the rest
kind of a dream. Of course, I call dibs on any Kimballs and Lorey's that show up (both
have shown up at Indy in the past 10 years, as has an ER). Were there 2 or 3 pair
of McKenzie Mitts last year for show - I believe it was three.

For those who have not attended before, picture 90 dealers of common to rare padlocks,
restraints, and keys. Great people with similar interests. More information
will be coming. We'll miss those of you who can't make it, and welcome those of

Here is preliminary info on the Indy Lock show;

Dates: April 21 & 22, 2012 (many of arrive Fri. the 20th).

Special room rate for Lock show: $ @72.00 per night plus tax.
Dinner banquet cost: same as other years; $20.00 (reccommended)
Dealer tables: $30.00 per table.
Convention Fee: NONE

This is a very reasonable, short, and incredibly fun convention. Over 90 dealers/displayers of common to ultra rare padlocks. Many keys for sale. Some very old and unusual pieces to be found. many restraints. I bought a Rankin a few years ago, and an ER show up several years ago. Several ER padlocks have been found there. Last year one collector brought over 100 handcuffs to sell, and they WILL be there this year with another 100 or so.
Other handcuff collectors brought stuff to show, and sell.
There were three sets of Mitts there last year, an original
Lorey Combination Cuff, A super rare Luna with combination lock and keyhole cover, the patent model Wisner Hoyt, a Great Romer, Lilly iron, Bean Ball and Chain, Tower three way, and countless other items all NOT brought by above seller.

**I will say the seller this year does not have any Romers, Lilly irons, Palmers, or stuff of that desireability, although there will be a Rankin Leg iron most likely. But, lots of odd foreign stuff and other rarities.

John is right on. Indy is a great time and a chance to not only meet fellow collectors but to see some handcuffs that you have only read about. There are always some nice restraints for sale and maybe a lock or two as well.
If you are considering flying in we can always see that cuffs/locks get mailed to you to avoid issues at the airport.

Yes,
The previous Goncz treads are now locked. One of them was a record holder for the most posts.
I stayed neutral in them as I was saddened by the tone of the postings.
I recently met Mr. Goncz and bought a few cuffs to trade or resell.
To me, he is a nice guy and on the few occasions we met, we had a good conversation over dinner.
He feels his name was attacked here and he fought back...seemingly with a vengeance.
I think the point is made that some of you feel he owes you money or cuffs and I will do my best to mediate or help resolve the difference in opinion.
Please keep this thread civil while I try to de-escalate all of this.

George Brett. I know your position and I am willing to obtain what you feel is owed to you from Mr. Goncz. I will email you privately and will send your cuffs to you if and when all is agreed upon.

Joe Tanner. I will see what you feel is owed to you and will relay this to Mr. Goncz as well. I will do what I can to find out what is possible to resolve your complaint.

As far as I know, these are the only people that have a claim for cuffs.

As far a cuff challenge is concerned, I can bring the cuffs to Indy or to Holland. If I can speak for Patrick or Michael, I would say that it is not likely that either one will want to put any money on the bet. Perhaps some other reward can be made, but the large sums of money talked about in the other posts, are unrealistic.

I keep telling Mr. Goncz that these cuffs WILL be picked by either man or probably by both. Both men are very talented. He stands by what he believes and is sure that they are pickproof. I still have never tried, even though I have a big box of these cuffs at my feet.

I am sure a challenge is still in place, but it will not be as glamorous as it seemed to be when all of the mud slinging started.

If anyone has any complaints, please write to me privately, and I will try to help.

Hello all,

Being, that there will be NO handcuff challenge presented at Indy,
(((from what I understand))) I have taken the initiative to design, machine, build and assemble a cuff so constructed as (in my opinion) to be a modern "Challenge Handcuff". While not a "TRUE" high security cuff, it is of a fashion that would defeat virtually all common items used to "pick open" a cuff such as paperclips, bobbypins and off the shelf lockpicks.

While I DO NOT wish to go into any detail about what makes it so cool, I will share some basic details:

95% stainless steel construction
4% "other" non-corosive material
1% regular hardened & tempered steel
It weighs 1 and a quarter pounds
It is comprised of 125 individual pieces or components
...but most importantly it requires only a US. "Standard" key to open!!!


I will have this cuff for display at Indy for your viewing pleasure...

One collector brought the patent model Wisner Hoyt, another brought a genuine Lorey Combination Handcuff.
There was an Oregon Boot, At least two pair of McKenzie Mitts, and well over 100 restraint for sale.
Joe Lauher had about the best display I've ever seen there - all British restraints including a Griffin
Bar cuff, Hiatt Bar Cuff, and many other rarities. The Amazing Michael had his boards of cuffs, and others
brought rare stuff as well.

I hope to see everyone there.

For those who attended Indy last year there were more handcuff collectors gathered
in one place than any other time I know of. Over 20 of us joing the Crossroads of America
Padlock show in Indianapolis including myself, Elliot Cutler, Gordon Gluff, Fred Pittella,
Joshua Ohlmeier, Damon Shields, Clyde Lowe, Paul Reardon, Ron Spits, Mark Lundblad, Mark
Lyons, The Amazing Michael, Mauri Willis (Stan's wife), Michael Busch and many others.
We had a great time, and most went home with handcuffs!

Well, Indy is coming up in a few months. The dates this year are April 21 and 22. Many of us were there early. I hope many of you will consider joining us again, or coming
perhaps for the first time. It should be a great time, with over 90 dealers of
padlocks, and several of restraints. I can guarantee there will be a large number of handcuffs/leg irons,
and other restraints there this year as well. Please consider this your invitation to join us.

I'll post information in the next week for the hotel and where to send your advance registration.
