houdini reaching to the past

Reaching to the past:

Notice the "1927" date.

I forget why it's not "1926" (year he died) - can someone explain?

Houdini died in 1926, but the new President wasn't elected till 1927.

Something fishy about the "7" in 1927.
It looks photo-shopped or chiseled into the stone afterwards.

Mark, I think it originally said 1926 & it was corrected at a later date.
The picture has not been photo shopped, I can assure you. I made the trip from the UK last March & saw it for myself.

There are some 1927 SAM cards that are signed Houdini out there, so strange things do occur.

I'll go with the 7 being corrected after the fact.

It originally said 6. The 7 was chiseled over the 6 at some point. This is because Houdini had been elected for the 1927 term.
