Hi Everyone

Just to let you all know I have had confirmation that I will be appearing on The Antiques Road Show next Sunday BBC1 7pm. It was filmed last September and they took about 20 minutes which no doubt will be condensed into about 2 minutes.

Not sure how many of you are familiar with the format but they have a group of experts who talk about various objects that people bring along (in my case they invited me to attend and bring part of my collection along).

I am in France at the moment and return on Sunday so have had to record it and watch it when we get back!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for letting us know! We have the Antiques Road Show in Swedish televison but
I guess the episodes broadcasted here are not really up to date. Do you know if there is
"BBC Play" that let you watch episodes directly from their web site after the broadcasting?

I'll let you know in advance next time I will be in London, I hope to get some time off
and come to see you and your collection. Last week was much too tight unfortunately.

Hi Chris-- Congratulations.

Hopefully you can provide a video-link later on, or the proper website to locate the program episode.

"Antique Roadshow" is well-known too for us here in the States - it airs on various "PBS" stations (Public Broadcasting Service).

Its always been my belief that "Antiques Roadshow" was the program that "started it all" - in terms of the many, many, many, many TV shows on the air now - that deals with appraising items that one finds in and around their home, in storage lockers, etc.

In the UK we can view missed programmes on BBC iplayer, however I am not sure what countries this is available in. Over here in France we can not get it - something to do with the TV licensing to stop people from paying their £140- a year and simply using their PC to watch current programmes.
Will let you know more next week and try to find out if I can post a link.

How exciting for you!
Not much is better than going on TV and talking about your life's passion.
We are lucky that this hobby holds the interest in so many people, yet it is such a rare hobby.
Almost everyone likes to see the restraints and hear about them but to go out and acquire them is not likely.

Good luck on your show and bring some of your oldest cuffs. People are fascinated with ancient relics. The older the better.

Bring a copy of the show with you if you are attending the convention in Holland to show to the guys.

Hi all!

I've been surfing around to crack the problem not being able to see the Antiques Roadshow outside the UK.

I found a software and this is how it works:

I first installed a program called Expat Shield;http://www.watch-bbc-iplayer.com/?gclid ... mAodvUjBYg

Now I'm downloading the program from BBC website;http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... ownland_1/

I just started the downloading the episode which takes some time. I also tried to watch the program in the BBC player
and it works. Now your ip address is simulated to be in the UK.

As I'm doing this from Sweden, I'm not sure if it works from other countries but it's well worth a try, isn't it?

Great stuff Chris! T.V. can be fun but it can also be hard work at times.

I spent the past 6 months shooting 13 episodes of my own T.V. show called, "Deals From The Darkside."

We literally shot all over North America and in a number of states.

It can be seen on Syfy Network in the USA beginning this spring.

My show deals with my hunt for rare antiques with a dark past or history in the hopes of adding them to my collection.

Quite a few episodes featured restraints of various kinds so it may be of interest to a number of people here.

What we did not get into because of time constraints is that these handcuffs were previously owned by Joe Dunninger who got them from Bess Houdini.

Thanks for your comment! I agree; this was Chris appearance and I think he deserves to stay in
the light alone. He certainly deserve it. I just love the Antiques Roadshow as it's a high

It is a Forum! You have proved my point Ian. Freedom of Speech.

Topics go off on tangents, sometimes off topic. No one is trying to discredit Chris, just add to the broader topic.

If someone could add Chris's video to YouTube I'd love to see it.

I was going to say, say whatever you want with the limitations of libel, slander, obscenity etc but I know that would fall on deaf ears for some people here (not you Ian).

I am glad to be informed of both television shows no matter who posted the original message. Both add to our hobby.

Greetings fellow collectors!

A cursory check of YouTube programs revealed several Antiques Roadshow (UK) episodes have been uploaded, though not as of yet the series 34 episode that we're anxious to view.

You have the option of taking Lars' suggestion, downloading xpat shield and spoofing your i.p. address, or you can simply wait until this episode is uploaded to YouTube. On a technical note, I tried several UK proxies and couldn't get the BBC iPlayer to work through them.

Ive searched for 2 days and found many links on line for it. I downloaded it and the info is correct as its Series 34 Episode 19. But basically who uploaded it did the wrong clip and its not the episode with Chris in in sadly. many of the on line liks are for the same wrong clip.
