This may be of some interest to fellow restraint collectors as I know the subject of these collars has been debated here before.
I think that this item argues rather strongly against these sorts of collars being "slave collars" as they are often claimed to be.

Somehow I cannot see a "slave doctor" being fitted with such a thing.

One of the interesting things I've noticed over the years with handcuff collectors, or other types of collecting, is that once your attention is focused on the item, you begin seeing the items everywhere.
And that is where logic seems to take a backseat.
The illogical process seems to work along these lines:
1) I collect handcuffs.
2) Hiatt (or Froggatt or whoever) made handcuffs and other restraints.
3) I have an item stamped HIATT.
4) It must be a handcuff or restraint of some kind.
If anybody wishes to take the time, just go back to the main page here and click on the link regarding Hiatt. Right at the top, you'll see an old advertisement for that company. Yes, they made handcuffs. Yes, they made felon's leg irons. And they also made bull rings & leaders, dog combs, "Beatall" wall nails, ferret muzzles, lunatic locks and "every description of Dog Collars & Chains"
I like collecting weird stuff. I have plenty of darbies, plug 8's and the like.
I also have a couple of these dog collars.
But what I would really like is a ferret muzzle. I don't even know what they look like, but I want one.
As for lunatic locks; well, it strikes me there are more than plenty of those on sale all over eBay.
