I recently bought a pair of zephyr police handcuffs and don't know too much about them. I searched the patent number and it came up as star handcuffs. Can anyone share any information about these cuffs. Thanks.

They look a lot like my Astra cuffs; probably the same maker.







Sorry to say I don't have any real info on them other than Star, Alcyon, Fury, Astra, Jay-Pee, and MANY other cuffs were all most likely made by the same cuff maker over in Spain from the 1960's or 1970's-present. They made some really cool and sometimes high security cuffs; my Astra cuffs have the anti-shim gear (shown in photo #3) as does my model 15900 and 15901.

Everything looks exactly the same, even the wheel before the teeth. When you turn your key does it stay turned inside the cuff without applying pressure?

Adam's cuffs are a right hand only pattern while GB's is a right and left........I wonder if Adam's cuff is the older of the two. Interesting.

Adam, I have not had a key in my in many years.....they are on one of my display boards so I couldn't tell you about the action of the key.

I noticed mine were two right handed cuffs, but didn't realize till you pointed it out that gb's are a right and a left cuff. So it's lookin like these style cuffs were like the now a days winchester or chicago, all the same cuffs just different names.
