Hi everyone, I have a lot of cuffs for sale if anyone is interested, most are newer swing thru but there are a few vintage ones in there too and they are all priced to move. Here is a basic list:

I forgot one set on the list:

This is a set of Harvard handcuffs, Harvard leg irons, and a very rare Harvard padlock (Fraim contract padlock Patent~1908) in a handsome display case. Each one of these items has it's own key, is in excellent working order and they all match each other in condition and patina. A very nice set! Asking $200.00 plus shipping ($175.00 plus shipping for just the cuffs and padlock minus the display).

*The key that is with the leg irons in the photo is not the key that come with them.....the key have been up-graded. Also, every link of the chain was made by hand and forge welded.

*These cuffs have a design flaw that can be exploited by an Escape Artist! They can be opened without the use of any tools!!! Steve Santini dicovered the flaw and passed the info on to me........I will pass on the info to the buyer if they wish to know the secret.

Annon troll, please go back and re-read what I wrote.....I said when I get done selling what I have to sell, I will be done here and will be out of your hair. I have posted old cuffs which have been in my collection for many years up for sale on this thread so it would appear that I am not done selling what I have to sell. Get off the short school bus on the next stop and join the rest of the class.

Also, since some people can't seem to leave me alone, and you know who you are, I think sticking around might be a fitting punishment since my being here hurts you so bad. I am shopping eBay right now trying to find cuffs to re-sell here......it could be a great business venture! =)

Don't worry about the anonymous scum. They're not worth the bother. Difficult, I know.

The chain work on those hand forged irons is stupendous. Chain welding is something of a PITA, as witnessed by the fact that most hand forged chains have very long links - less welding. Those small links almost look machine made. I was looking for weld marks, and was delighted to find hand forged laps.

Thanks for the support guys, glad to see people stepping forward and not letting the vermin take pokes at me while everyone quietly reads this BS. It is funny how this little whining crybaby did not attack John Bushey for selling cuffs here on the forum, only me.

I suspect the troll is not mad about people selling things here instead of eBay, he or she (she, referring to a man with severely under developed male genitalia) just has a grudge against me. I can't blame them for being mad at me.......I would hate me too if I was a pathetic POS who lives in my parent's basement and pulls the lawnmower out of the shed out back to make it my "summer home" and has no life whatsoever. The lack of sex with anything other than a lotioned up gym sock or a plastic blow-up doll must be rough too.

Dennis, I put a close-up photo of the chain so everyone could see the welds......it really looks like modern chain from a distance. I can't believe how long the chain is; it must have taken forever to make that thing!

They will not go away......they will just stay here and post under their real name when they want to participate in a normal way and then go anonymous when they want to attack someone so other collectors don't see what they are really like. Sometimes they will use their real identity and attack me through private e-mail because they think those hateful messages will never see the light of day. However, I save every one of them and may one day release them for everyone to see.

things we or others are selling. What does hurt all of this is all the negativity, and the anonymous posters who are
posting things in a negative way. Why don't we either buy stuff posted here, or not buy it? Why not share information
or not share it (each persons choice)? What does not help is all the put-downs and bickering. Just my two-cents worth.
I personally have bought items posted here from Michael, and been very pleased with what I've received. If I don't want it, I simply don't buy it. I still like to see it. Thanks Michael for continuing to post items here.

John, I also wanted to add that as nasty as my responses to the troll's post were, I actually deleted the really bad stuff before I posted them......they were a lot worse before hand. So, I am trying take your advice and tone it down a bit and but I still have a long way to go. Sorry I fed into this person's meaningless nonsense. On the upside, I have found a whole bunch of other items I am putting up for sale here on the forum all on seperate threads; so you guys have that to look forward to! =)

It goes surprisingly fast. I watched a smith making chain, once, and he just worked like a machine. The most time consuming part would actually be drawing out the wire, if it was done by hand. An apprentice would cut the links to length, bend them, taper the ends, and throw them all in a bucket. The smith would weld half the rings into loose rings, or use this as welding training for the apprentice. He would then connect each loose ring to the chain with an open ring them and do the trickier welding on the chain.

@ Michael , ( member of our circle ) That is kind of an ironic statement when you examine it closely.

The odds are that the person who attacks you is indeed a member of this very circle that you mention.

Is there a list of who is included in this circle?

I am pretty certain that Joe has said many times here that he wants the forum to be inclusive of everyone and doesn't want to restrict it to a few.

When regular posters start ignoring and make derisive statements encouraging others to ignore posters who don't want to use their real name it then enters into the realm of cyber bullying.

If someone makes a sensible post asking a handcuff or lock related question ( regardless of what name they use ) I will respond to it if I have some relevant information to add.

You can email Joe when there is something you want removed in a thread, ( I have done this before ) He is good about removing offensive remarks when requested.

Dennis, thanks for the info on the Blacksmithing.......I never knew they did it that way. It is a real interesting art that I would love to undertake one day; I have a friend who is really into it and offered to get me started. However, the timing was never right and it just got logged into my long term "things to do list".

Anonx3, I think you are reading a little too much into the principal of "our circle". There is no cyber bullying going on by members of said circle unless the do it on their own under the cover of a cowardous cloak of anon or some variation of that. I think you take a lot of heat from people here because you choose to remain anonymous. I personally don't have a problem with that as long as you are civil in your writings. I would never buy anything from you because I don't know who you are; the trust issue comes into play when someone hides their ID but it is my right to not trust you and that is not unreasonable. I have to be an open book here because I do a lot of wheeling and dealing. People know who I am, where I live, what I look like, and the sound of my voice........the exact opposite of anonymous. When I ask someone to hold something I want to buy, they will hold it knowing me and how I do business. When someone sends me money for a piece I have agreed to sell them, the sleep easy knowing it will get there because they know me and how I do business. If I trade something with another collector, they can rest assured my end of the bargain will be held up and the item traded will be as advertised......because they know me and how I do business. If you just want to be involved in the conversation here, feel free to remain hidden but don't expect the same privileges that I have or so many of our other fellow collectors have who are out in the open. My thoughts.

leave the thread up, I stand behind comments I posted.

If part of the value of the forum is dialog and debate, then it is lost when a thread is deleted.

You could cut the links to your pictures and that would shorten the thread , ( just the text would remain ).

Personally I like looking at the pictures of handcuffs that are posted here on the site.

Interesting points.

Not sure if I am peeing into the wind by saying this, but:

1. This forum is the de-facto source of handcuff knowledge. 40 years ago when I was growing up, my reference materials consisted of a couple old books. The internet has changed all that. I did not have the resources to do any pure research.

2. With the advent of the Internet, excepting this forum, knowledge is spread around all over the globe in multiple languages, some of the content not being accessible via search engines. I think John Bushey can vouch for that... I am amazed by his research techniques (the Michigan trip for example). The japanese cuff mystery is another good example, but I am making progress and will post soon.

3. Cannon's is gone. I can no longer get the handcuff research periodicals that seemed to be commonplace only a few years ago and originated from this board.

I could go on for about 7 or 8 more points, but to sum it up, I feel no knowledge should ever be deleted. If it can be re-posted in a new thread that is fine, but it should never be deleted (Michael I volunteer to help if needed, those are some really good pics of items we may never see again). Pictures are so valuable when it comes to antique research, and I myself constantly find myself reading the current, recent, and archived posts. I am always disappointed when I hear some talk about a particular item, only to be confounded with the red "X" because the picture is expired.

In my opinion, this IS the Library of Congress of handcuffs and we should be adding info, not taking it away.

P.s. Trolls are needy, hungry specimens, just like bullies. When they realize your jimmies have not been rustled, they always move on to easier targets, which is probably a half dozen other forums. Leave the day-to-day nonsense to them, we are doing good work here. You know, if it were not for the collectors here documenting the hc historical technology, 50 years from now it would all be lost. My hat's off to Joe, you have done a wonderful job keeping this place running... Eternal gratitude to you.

Okay, good points guys.....I will not ask for this to be deleted if that is what you want. If you like my photos, I have hundreds of cuff and lock photos up on my Facebook account.......you should get an account and "friend me" to get access. My old MySpace page is also still up and I have blog archives of handcuffs, locks, and restraints that go back something like three years with awesome photos, insights, personal experiences, facts, history, and all kinds of stuff if you are interested. Let me know if you want links to either one of these things.
