Dear Patrick and Dirk,

As a long time professional event and fair organizer, please let me give you some good advice in order to get more people registering.
Most people, including myself, wants much more information about the Convention prior to register. This is especially
important for all overseas collectors as they need to book flights a long time in advance.

1. Where is the Convention held? City, address, maybe a nice picture of the place.

2. How do people get to the Convention from different directions? From the Shiphol airport (bus, train, taxi??), by car from other directions. A map maybe?

3. What hotels are you suggesting? Maybe you could provide weblinks to different hotels in different price levels close to the Convention?

4. What is the schedule? Will there be a visit to a restaurant the day before the Convention? What restaurant? Have you made a reservation?

5. Are there any highlights during the Convention? Will there be any lectures or anything else that's interesting to know?

If you can post some more information according to these questions, I'm sure many more people will consider attending and finally
register.

Why not ask Peter Pensaert for help, he has proved himself to be a very talented organizer from previous Conventions.

Dear Lars,

There seems to be some communication problem. I will try to explain it all.

All that Pat and I requested from day one is that everybody who is (or might be) interested to drop us an email.

We mentioned months ago that the convention will take place on saturday october 6th in The Hague/Wassenaar - Holland.

All details on pre-convention dinner, hotelrooms etc. would be provided by e-mail to those who are interested to come over.

Until now, only 10 people reacted by mail.

You will understand that it would be impossible to organise a convention for only 10 people; it would be too expensive and very dull too...

If you (or anyone else) has any questions, please ask

Ok guys, after the last European Convention I thought it was about time to move the event from my hometown to a new location because Antwerp only has enough to offer to justify two or three touristic trips (that is if you don't count our local beers).

So after three conventions in Antwerp it seemed to be the right time to move on to another place in Europe. Some of us collectors bring their wives/girlfriends along to the convention and make some kind of city-trip around the event. Moving the even to a different location (even to a different country) seemed to be the right thing to do back then (and now too) and that is exactly what is supposed to happen this year.

As far as I heard, the people who are putting their best effort in organising the event in a new location this year, don't get the level of response I used to get with the 'old' conventions.

By this way I urge whoever intends to come to the convention, to register or at least show some interest by sending an email to the email-address they provide : handcuffconvention@gmail.com

If you would rather use the email of the previous conventions, please do so and I will forward your emails.

As the only American to have attended every European Handcuff Convention, I thought that I would contribute to this thread. Any collector who can, if it is at all feasible, should do his or her best to attend this event. It is not only very educational, but great fun. I don't know why anybody would have any objection to the new location. The Hague is a charming city with great public transportation. Personally I think it's really cute. Anybody who brings the wife and kids should check out a weird amusement park called Madurodam. I'm sure a web search would reveal lots and lots of other attractions.

Nearby Rotterdam has a renowned museum of modern art. It's so famous that I can't remember the name right now, but do a web search. Anyone who is interested in less wholesome and cerebral entertainment should keep in mind that Amsterdam is only 45 minutes away. If anybody feels that they can't have enough fun in Amsterdam, I can only suggest that they look into finding directions to Sodom or Gomorrah.

In response to the last message, I have not observed that there has been any whining or blaming going on. Patrick is not trying to SELL us anything; he's giving us the OPPORTUNITY to have another fabulous European Handcuff Convention. He has graciously taken on this onerous burden and, right now, is preoccupied with locking up a venue, without which the event cannot proceed. First things first! It's far too premature to be worrying about anything else. If this goes forward, sooner or later Patrick will provide all the relevant information, and all the little ancillary details (meet & greet, presentations, etc.) will take shape in due course.

Based on prior experience, there is one last problem which I would like to address. People might want to remember that Patrick is not signing on to be anybody's travel agent or tour guide. How much is airfare from South Dakota? What if I don't have a passport? What train do I catch in Amsterdam? How much is a taxi from the train station to the hotel? Does the hotel restaurant serve vegetarian meals? Who's going to wipe my ass for me? Come on, people! Get used to the idea that there are some things that you're just going to have to take care of by yourselves.

behind all this emails and all others we are buzy to have a great time here in holland
what Tom mention is that we do not have enough time to hold all of your hands

of course I (I can only speak for myself) have some days free to do something with the
guys who want to

this is not the first time we are asking for comment and to write you in
we also wait till the great event in america was over
and now we have to do something more and we do

so if you want to come you have 5 days to wtite you in

and yes the event is in the hagea erea
we have room on vriday there to eaten there
we have in the same hotel options on hotel rooms
the next morning we have a nice room to do the handcuff convention over there
and yes if you want we can sunday do something in the netherlands
or in belgium
