I have a pair of Model 91's dating from the mid 70's. They're basically the model 90 in stainless and they don't have the S on them.Can someone please tell me how I can determine if I have Smith & Wesson 925's or 926's? These are the lightest cuffs in my entire collection and they look just like my model 90's except they have a S on the jaws of the cuffs. I have 3 pairs of these and seen some other postings of these and am now interseted in finding when they were made and the actual model #. I contacted Smith & Wesson and they could not help me with serial #'s or why the S is on the cuffs.
M-91 is AFAIK not made of stainless steel, but has a mirror nickel plated finish. Atame is entirely correct, the only stainless 90 series cuffs made by Smith was the M-938. I have 8 pairs, and 7 of them do have the small "S" stamped on the bow near the pivot. They are also just a wee bit smaller in opening and length then the m-90's and 91's, as well as a bit lighter. I also have an two pair of the high polish model 91's that have a simple, small star in the same area. These were purchased new and never used, but alas, the factory rep does not know what they mean since S&W has changed ownership about 8 times since the 90 series was replaced by the 100's. 925 and 926 are aluminum, lightweight. "Model 90" era stainless are model 938.Can someone please tell me how I can determine if I have Smith & Wesson 925's or 926's?
