Geo A Wood handcuffs

Hi,

I came across a pair of Geo A Wood chain handcuffs with an original key. I have not been able to find out much about them and would like to find out more. Any help would be appreciated. It appears that they were patented in 1913. Who was Wood? We're these successful / popular? Value?

I have been researching the Wood's chain handcuffs. I have some information which may help you.
Yes they have value! Are they brass or aluminum? Also, I acquired from a descendent of Wood's the
prototype of his handcuff. It's similar to the patent pending version, but larger and closer in size to
the released patented handcuff. They also came in leg iron size. He was a law enforcement officer in

Best way to do that would be to look in the recent auction pages:

located on home page
clik it & they will be listed by date

i'd clik on the most recent one first

it will appear as a narrow strip,clik it, boom enlarges
look down this list,if nothing, hit go back arrow ,& check the next list back,
ect.
i think there was some not so long ago, but not sure!

Dan, LK has some good advice. This Forum is full of information. Sometimes it's hard to find and it does take some effort on your part to do some research.

As far as the value, if you want to sell the cuffs, collectors know what they are worth and the market will determine the price. Too may sellers who are not collectors think they might not get a high price. The cuffs will determine their value.

If you wanted to sell them either use eBay or this Forum by posting pictures and letting collectors make offers over a period of time by email. There are several collectors doing this, but in most cases they have established a price.

I have always been of the opinion not to give estimates of value to those asking for a price. There are many factors to a value especially to someone who really wants the item.
