Just been watching one of the many antique buyers/flog it/cash in the attic TV programmes and was interested in a comment made where a piece of metalwork (not handcuffs)was marked 'Made in England'
The presenter said it must be after 1891 because the US were worried about imports and insisted that all products were marked with their country of origin. Does anyone know about this US 'law' that was passed and was it universally accepted? I am not very well up with the history of the USA but I would have thought that 'Great Britain' as we were then known would have had a much larger influence on world affairs than America??
