New Clejuso models!

Hello everybody,

at last there are new Clejuso models or let's better say variants.

No. 101 and 102 high security is now available in ladies size. Here the inner diameter of the cuffs is variable adjustable from 5.6 cm x 3.4 cm to 6.7 cm x 6.6 cm (normal 6.3 cm x 4.0 cm to 6.8 cm x 7.0 cm) and in the smallest setting the movable bows do not protrude the stationary bows like at the normal variant.

Unfortunately the manufacturer Clemen&Jung asks a high price for these pieces considerably higher than the normal models I have no clue why. So the resale-price is appropriately high:
No. 101 = EUR 254.90 / US$ 320.57
No. 102 = EUR 245.90 / US$ 309.25

And the larger high security No. 103 would even be incredibly about EUR 350.00 / US$ 440.00 that's why Cuffsland decided not to offer them in normal stock (yet?) but only to provide customers with them on demand instead.

Selling to the collector's market, perhaps?

It seems many a new cuff seems to be intended more for deep-pocketed collectors than for police officers.

That's possible, Steve, but I don't think so. Clemen&Jung didn't even tell us that these new models are on the marked. I read about them in a German handcuffs-forum.

I think that until now only a few pieces are produced. The ones we got have no markings, which is unusual for a Clejuso-restraint and they also came in the normal boxes with no "small size" (or so) description on it.

Maybe Clemen&Jung want to check, if there is a demand for such variants at all. And if there once will be large orders, the manufacturer can decrease the price. But that's just a speculation.

As much as it pains me to say it, for all German engineering ingenuity: the Clejuso 100 models are inferior cuffs. They fit poorly, there is no double bow, they have thin and sharp bows, they can sometimes be opened by pulling them apart. They look heavy and secure, but they aren't. Secure, that is.

Why Clejuso went to reproduce the same poor model in a smaller size is beyond me.

Does anyone know if they are NIJ certified? I don't see any reason for authorities in the US, the "land of handcuffs" (and the most people behind bars) to start using them, but it would be interesting to know.

Even the Clejuso 13 makes more sense than the 100 models.

That said, I still want them.

Hello Nils,

I once read (concerning "Deutsche Polizei" handcuffs) that no double bow can be seen as advantage, because it's not possible to bend the stationary bow apart by inserting something in between, like it is possible with double bow models.

Did you really ever see somebody pulling a No. 100 model apart? I can hardly imagine that. And don't write these words, because we are selling this stuff. The No. 100 models are the official German prison and court restraints after all. I consider them inconvenient but not insecure.

I apologize if you took my remarks as possibly damaging to your business. I certainly did not intend that. Everybody here knows that your offers and prices to the community are more than fair and that Cuffsland's service is outstanding. I appreciate the new information on Clejuso, especially since it is so hard to come by.

My comments addressed only the technical aspects of the Clejuso 100 series cuffs. I consider the fact that the bows are without grooves a problem for a cuff in the given price range. I believe that is a legitimate remark for a restraint that is in fact used offically by law enforcement. That said, I'm not sure there is a single cuff out there that is without flaws.

Hello Nils,

no problem at all. I am far from saying that the Clejuso No. 1xx series are perfect restraints. They are interesting for collectors, who can easily afford them without having to cancel their next vacation trip . But if somebody is just looking for tumbler lock handcuffs because of security reasons, I would recommend Rivoliers or Peerless 710N.
