Hello fellow collectors. Recently I was treasure hunting(handcuffs), and I came across these handcuffs and snagged them. Can anyone tell me anything about them like mfg, age etc? They have no markings, and appear to me to pass as a cousin an American Munitions speed cuff. If I didn't know better maybe related to a Harvard Model 2, but I know what Harvard Models were produced. I've only seen a pair of these on Ebay one other occasion, and never in any handcuff publications.
They appear like a USA manufactured cuff and they are heavier and larger than the above two I mentioned, nonetheless a nice find. Thanks for your help.

I'm fairly certain that these unmarked cuffs on the left are among the many Japanese clones made back in the day.

Most of these Japanese clones that I've come across are in the Peerless style, sans milled jaws and detent. Your cuffs are less common and I believe made several years earlier than the aforementioned. The swivels are identical on both styles. The Japanese also made several types of flat keyed cuffs, though these are particularly hard to come by.

Hi Kris:
That would be about the best estimate I could come up with also -- being that I'm not quite sure when they switched over to manufacturing the Peerless style clones. I'm also wondering if they began cloning the American Munitions cuffs during the occupation of Japan, which ended officially in 1952. Many housewares and goods were produced at this time, and quite a large number were destined for shops in the states.
