I am the person who made them, it was a typo, I mean... "stampo", It should have been advertised as year "2013", as that's when I made them. They aren't very rare, I make barrels of these things daily.

Hi Jim, are you just interested in that one cuff or are you hoping to have a full collection?
There was a guy many years ago who visited all the antique stores from Fitzroy to High street Armadale selling these Indian made cuff for about $35.00. They are real cuffs, hand crafted of sheet steel and made in the style of higher quality English cuff.
They hold their price.

This style of cuff was patented in 1885, some 70 odd years after the date stamp on the tag.

Thanks Ian I want to slowly start to build up a collection thats why I am looking here to learn things before I jump right into the deep end, did you get a chance to look at the ball and chain I bought, looks great, very very heavy, Jim.

Hi Jim, the photo (as you know) is not that clear of your ball and chain but even so I can say it's not an authentic type. Even the huge steel ball and chain at the old Melbourne gaol is not authentic, but it keeps the punters happy.
Typically an Australia ball has a rectangular tang rivetted into a hole that is thru the centre of the ball. This tang for the chain to be attached is normally also retangular.

Good to see you are not jumping in and reading and researching. This great site created by Mr Joe Lauher is the biggest and the best for handcuff collectors around the world. When in doubt ask here. Never take the word of any anonymous posters, many lurk here and don't respond to them either.
