Where can I find info on the different variations of the Bean Giant.
I know there is the Patented mark of 1887, the patent pending, solid key, hollow key with post on cuff, unmarked.
When did they stop making them?

Hi Paul,
There is the patent stamped version, patent applied for, and the version with no markings. I don't believe they were even really made with
keyhole posts. Houdini and perhaps a few other escape artist had these as handcuff king breakers, and I know of two or three examples of them, two with providance to Houdini.
As for the operational aspect from the inside; there are two variations I've seen. Most common is the version where the end of the buttons inside the lock are square, and it goes through small holes filed square in a wall cast as the cuff body. These are held in with a pin sticking out of the top of the square end of the button. The second is the version where the button is pinned right inside the cuff body, and the ends of the pin bent downward to touch the bottom of the cuff body, thereby preventing the button from rotating (necessary so the pin sticking out of the square end of the buttons does not rotate either so the pawls will remain open until the buttons are pushed). In this second version, the ends of the buttons are not as square, but can even be round or rounded.
There is a significant difference in some from the outside as well. There are differences where the bows enter the lock body. Also, there is a version in which there is a washer in the hinges, while most I've seen do not have this washer.
