i was wondering if there is any interest in a handcuff collection

many times i want to sell but not a good reaction is comming

but for now i do not want the collection anymore

but i do not want to give it free

so if there is any interest

i can give you pics

PATRICK ::and to ALL OTHERS..... i mean NO disrespect,. PATRICK has a very nice collection, but it is far from being a GREAT collection as he has what i call TONAGE and not QUALITY - DEVERSITY... having a ton of modern stuff is a nice collection, but very very hard to resell - trade etc as eveyone already has the SAME items.... nothing wrong with having ONE duplicate of scarse to rare items, but not good to have several of the same cuff.... IF the money spent on those items would have been spent on much more desireable OLD OLD restraints then the collection would be very much more deverse and more direseable to others.... in the 1980' - 90's i knew a several collectors that would brag about the number of pieces that they had in their collection... only to find out that they had TONAGE.. i know as i eventually purchased several of the collections for resale.... i always told me clients to buy QUALITY... yes, even buy lesser condition items IF they were a scarse etc item... having an item is better then not having it !!! let this be a lesson to all NEW collectors.... spend the same, buy less items, but end up having a GREAT collection over time..... joe

Yeah, I was interested if you had some new LIPS handcuffs for sale but that you don't want to sell it anymore, I will look somewhere else.

Now I have a question in Dutch for Patrick:

Waarom doe je je collectie weg? Lijkt me zonde toch? En kun je echt niet een nieuw paar LIPS handboeien inclusief sleutels bewaren zodat ik ze misschien kan kopen? Weet namelijk niet hoeveel je van je oud ijzerboer krijgt per paar maar als het te doen is wil ik wel iets meer betalen voor een paar LIPS handboeien uit je collectie.

Ik hoor het wel.

Hello!

No. 4 are several variations of so called Stasi-handcuffs, except the far right one, which were used by security authorities in the former German Democratic Republic ("East Germany"), which is now a part of Germany. They are pretty numerous and are about 20 up to ca. 50 Euro/Dollars depending on the pattern.

want to clear somthing up

allmost all of you who respond

want to give a few dollars for items worth more then they bid

one person in special was buzy with his kind words to get one

of the expensive items for a few bucks

so i take it to a dumpstore and they pand it for me

i get something more than a few bucks for it

they give me a year to buy it back i must pay for hold it

so that is what happend

Man, I was going to pay what you WANTED for the ones I wanted, you didn't even give me a price you wanted nor did you reply to my e-mails! I'm not offering you a 'few dollars', i'm going to buy them for WHAT YOU WANT for them, jesus!

If you could get them back i'm sure it would benefit you in the long run, as i'm willing to buy the ones i've circled in an earlier post!

Dear Patrick,

Let's clear a few things out. I was the one who sent you the inquiry about the La Pegy with the odd hex key pattern as I remember you have them.
I'm basically a collector of antique restraints with no interest in modern cuffs unless they are very odd or significant. Your cuffs are odd which makes them interesting to me.

You asked me to make you an offer and I asked you to tell me your price. Then you offered me to buy them for 1.500 euro.
Asking such a high price is not only very stupid but totally unrealistic. I would have been able to pay what they are worth. According to mine and another advanced collector's estimate; 300 350 euro. You obviously think they are worth much more than they are.
You are whining about people who doesnt want to pay your prices but the prices you seem to expect are not realistic. Most serious collectors, including myself, are willing to pay market prices for good cuffs but not overprices.

I very much agree to Joe Tanner; modern cuffs are very hard to sell as the demand is very little. Either a collector already has them or is not interested to get them.

Patrick, if you want to sell your collection please let me give you a piece of advice as a long time collector. There are people interested in buying cuffs from you. Be polite to them, answer their emails and offer realistic prices. Its about time to stop whining like a child and act as an adult!

i get an offer for those cuffs you mention for about 1400 euro

so if you want to do with it you have to pay more for it and not other

you think you are the big guy but you are nothing more then everybody else

here on the forum or in the world

If someone is willing to pay 1400 euro for a La Pegy then please contact me as I have a ton of stuff I will part with. You can even house it in some ocean front property I will sell you here in Kansas. I must commend you though Patrick, it's obvious that English is not your first language and often times its hard for me to make sense of what you write. However, somehow you still seem to express yourself well enough to gather that you're a whiny prick. Don't buy your collection back, let them keep it and eventually they will bring the items to the market with a much more professional approach that most of us would rather deal with.

Perhaps he was presented with insulting offers and this is why Patrick is upset.

In many fields of collecting it seems there are collectors who think "my stuff is gold and your stuff is shit" and so they offer very poor money for the other guys stuff when they know very well how rare it is.

It happens in handcuff collecting all the time.

hey folks ... i believe that you all have missed the whole point.... patrick wanted to sell the -- ENTIRE -- collection to someone..... NOT piece meal it out..... he probably got LOW LOW BALL offers which would piss any of you off if you were trying to sell your COLLECTION.... then he got people who wanted only a couple of items & same -- low offers.... i don't care for patrick & he knows why, but cut him some slack as he must have needed $$$ in a hurry... joe

My 2 cents:

First of all, Patrick was born and raised in Holland, so his English is not exactly perfect. Do not get upset with him for that fact. I am sure your Dutch vocabulary would be laughed at by the folks in his native country.

I am surprised that he disposed of his cuff collection as he never wrote to me about this. He knew that I was VERY interested in some pieces and would have paid the price he was asking, within reason.

I do not know if he was only offering the collection as a unit as he is smart enough to know that this is the worst way to sell a collection of anything.

I would like to add that he is not some slouch and works in the capacity of an electrical engineer.

I am concerned that he has been too stressed out and is near his boing point.
I understand some of the pressures he is faced with and I have no reason to share them in a forum as I consider him a good friend and friends do not spread gossip.

Patrick, I emailed you and I hope you received it. As far as I know, all I will say is that: I suggest you get the collection back, take some time to work out any problems, and seek help from those friends who you know and trust. Maybe some of those can help you sell the collection, piece by piece and I think you will come out way ahead.
I hope you will keep the collection as I know you are like many of us and could never get the cuff collecting bug out of your blood.

I wish you wll with what ever decision you make but I hope you will take your time and clearly think what is best to do with the collection and maximize the money you could get if you decide to sell one day.

IF I WAS GOING TO WRITE IN DUTCH, I WOULD MAKE SURE I STUDIED THE LANGUAGE THUS PRONOUNICNG AND SPELLING IT CORRECTLY!
