I am wondering how many different sizes of locks ER made. This one is almost 4 3/4 inches along the tube and the diameter of the tube, in the center is over 1 inch. The lock is marked ER and 6 on the shackle side and the key, which is original is marked 6. The weight is around 2 pounds. The key turns clockwise to open.Got the ER lock and key at the Indy show. I live in Shepherdstown where these locks are made. I am currently working on a article and collecting photos of as many different Rickard locks as possible. In answer to your question about the sizes of locks, I spoke with a local blacksmith the other day who had seen a ER lock s small as a bottle cap and stamped ER and have seen some very large ones also. I didn't see a mark on your lock with a ER or B&O or Ive even seen one stamped Shepherdstown Wv ( which would be post civil war and made by ER son James. Im running into a problem where I see these style locks some not stamped and Im wondering if all are stamped or were some blank. Any info anyone has would help me in my research.
