Hi guys,

that should have been German?! The only word I know that looks similar is "Gesundheit", which is literally translated with "health". But in Germany, you also say (and wish) "Gesundheit!" when somebody is sneezing. This is analog to "God bless you!" in English speaking countries.

"Gesundheit" is almost as common in Cincinnati as it is in Germany. Of course Cincinnati has a German heritage and "Gesundheit" is widely used here.

Sorry Guenter, I had to go by sound, the way we say it around here. You'd probably wonder what we were talking about if you heard us.

I only know the word because after my dad got home from WWII that's what he said when we sneezed. He never told me how to spell it. If my ex-wife ever corrected me on it I have managed to forget.
