There was a hardbound book published in 1920 titled "The Ten-Foot Chain or Can Love Survive the Shackles?" A unique symposium by Achmed Ardullah, Max Brand, E.K. Means, and P.P. Sheehan. The book was edited, I believe, by George Tucker (not given credit in the book).

All of these guys were prominent movie directors, writers, authors and producers in Hollywood during the silent film days. From the introduction, "Some time ago I (Tucker)was dining with four distinguished writers. Needless to say where two or three authors are gathered together with a sympathetic editor in their midst, the flood-gates of fancy are opened wide. ......What mental and emotional reaction would a man and a woman undergo, linked together by a ten-foot chain, for three days and nights?"

The discussion led to the four short stories published in the book and are very interesting to read.

The copy of the book I have is inscribed to Tucker from Sheehan dated L.A. (Los Angeles) 1920. The last owner of the book has a bookplate with the name Betty Compson who was an actress for Paramont Studios and worked with Tucker and several of the other authors.

So the theme of this thread is not new and has been going on for a long time. The key is how it is presented.
