Looking to purchase, any ideas?

Hello, I am new to this forum and am looking for a little advice.

I recently started my law enforcement career and was looking for a pair of black hinged Peerless handcuffs. After reading a good bit of information, I was intrigued to find a (new) set of older 301s, from when they have the flush rivets.

Do I simply keep watching ebay for a set like this, or are there any shops around that would still stock a new set of these?

My advice would be that if you wish to purchase a set of handcuffs for duty use, that you would avoid the penetrate finish offered on handcuffs. This finish is offered because it's a less expensive finish and it does require more care to keep them from rusting which can happen on parts of the nickel plated sets but is less of a problem. Both require cleaning and lubrication just one type requires more care.

Those old 301's don't look to be NIJ spec. They don't have a model #.

Some Peerless model numbers are so lightly stamped that they are very hard to see. I had a belly chain set stamped so lightly that the numbers weren't visible until the flash on the camera illuminated them.

I'm sure those cuffs meet any and all standards.

I am not totally sold on the black alone, in fact, I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a nickel as well. I do like the idea of having new old stock though, as troublesome as it may be...
