Handcuff Restraint Belt from Berlin Prison

This belt was supposedly found in a Berlin prison in Moabit. It's relatively short with 90 centimeters, has two figure 8 cuffs permanently attached to the belt. I have no clue why what appears to be custom made double-handcuffs were attached to both sides of the belt.

I am quite sure that your belt comes from the same workshop as the "Berliner belts" I have; also, the belt on the right hand side of this picture, that was provided by Steve Santini in another thread of this forum, seems to be of the same make, on this one with only one handcuff (I hope it is OK to link it in here):

It almost looks like the shackles are intended to fasten "hand-elbow/hand-elbow" with arms akimbo.

Since the 2 figure 8s are different, I would agree this is a custom made item (or repaired). If the other photo is of German Prison Camp restraints then that might explain its construction and irregularity if it were cobbled together in the camp. The thick canvas webbing also looks war era. The size would fit a man in good condition, but not Sergeant Schulz

It never even occured to me that the two cuffs are different, but they really are. One is more flat, one is more rounded, but they are very similar in design.

Maybe each double cuff was intended to hold a wrist and an ankle. That would be quite restrictive.
