I just received Ian's new version of the Guiteau Handcuffs. They are super. They are a very faithful reproduction of the original cuff. It takes two keys to open them and it is not a simple task. I find that I need two hands to operate the keys. I don't quite know how anyone would "escape" from them even with keys in hand.

I have had a great interest in this cuff since reading about it in Dick Norman's book as a child. I have obtained letter E in the series.
To do a one handed opening unscrew the inner key until it is nearly out of the outer key. Screw the outer key in until it stops, use your thumb and index finger to hold one "wing" of the outer key and use a "flicking" motion with your ring finger to screw down the inner key giving it a good hard final push to bind.
Usually the keys "wings" are either lined up or in an "X" shape, if lined up just turn both together. If in an "X" shape place a finger into each intersecting cross angle (use thumb and exclude pinky) to turn open without the keys seperating.
