What's New
Peerless Handcuff Company has made extensive changes to their product codes. We are still in the process of transitioning to the new codes as the new models go into production. The B series restraints incorporate new improved locking mechanisms and the C series are identical except for an additional security enhancement.
Peerless leg irons have been redesigned to make them more secure. The double strand part of the leg irons is now wider in both the Model 703C and 705C oversized leg irons. The new more robust design makes them very hard to defeat through brute force. They also incorporate the new improved series C locking mechanisms.
Peerless changes include:
Standard chain nickel: 700 = 700C
Standard Chain Black: 700P = 701C
Standard Chain Colored: 750-COLOR = 750B-COLOR
Oversized Chain Nickel: 7030 = 702B
Oversized Chain Colored: 7030- COLOR = 752C-COLOR
Hinged Nickel: 801 = 801C
Hinged Black: 801P = 802C
Hinged Colored: 801-COLOR = 850B-COLOR
Standard Leg Nickel Leg Irons: 703 = 703C
Standard Colored Leg Irons: 703-COLOR = 753B-COLOR
Oversized Leg Irons: 705 = 705C

The Hiatt Handcuffs brand has been discontinued. Hiatt Handcuffs in England was acquired by American company Armor Holdings in 2006. Armor Holdings was then acquired by British company BAE Systems. The Hiatt factory in Birmingham, England was closed in late June, 2008. BAE moved the Hiatt factory to New Hampshire and began making the Hiatt handcuff line under the Safariland brand. In 2010, they closed the New Hampshire factory and now they are made in Ontario, CA. All restraints made by BAE companies were placed under the Safariland brand. This includes Monadnock disposable restraints and NIK Flex-Cufs, TranZport Hoods, and Spit Nets. In 2012 Safariland was acquired in a private equity deal led by the former CEO of Armor Holdings, Warren Kanders. Kanders is the Chairman and CEO of the new company which will continue to be named Safariland.
In 2014 all handcuff products will be moved back the Hiatt brand, disposable restraints moved back to Monadnock, and TranZport Hoods and Spit Nets moved to Forensic Source.
