S&W Question

Does anyone know approximately from what year to what year Smith & Wesson made the model 95's? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mine says 5/72 on it. I think I have seen one from the late 60s. I haven't seen any with the 80s on the box. I know this is kind of a wide range. If you search model 95 in this forum I have pictures of my box with the date code visible.

11/63 is the earliest I have found. 10/73 is the latest. That was from digging around in the forum.

Thank you for your replies. I'm just trying to get some kind of idea of how long they were in production for, and from your information it looks to around tens years or so. I wouldn't have thought they would have been making them that long on a contract, i would have figured just a few years or so.
