Vintage Hiatt Irish Eight Plug Handcuffs for Sale!

I am selling an old pair of handcuffs. I have done some research on this forum and on the internet and worked out there are known as 'Irish Eight's' and I believe these handcuffs used to have a plug covering the hole where the key goes in, that you take out with the end of the key? Well the plug is unfortunately missing with this set, but the key works well.

Both the key and handcuffs are stamped '1'. The handcuffs stamped, 'Hiatt' and 'Hard'.

What kind of price am I looking at?

Based in the UK, postage is £3.99 to the UK. Around £12.99 to the US/Can and Europe, although that needs checking.

I was planning on putting them on eBay, but I thought i'd see what offers I could get here, is that ok? I don't know the forum rules completely, sorry.

It's a plug 8, not an Irish 8. And yes there is a difference.

There is a hole drilled through the bow near the key hole, the key hole has been hacked at and filed down significantly. The thread to guide the key is missing, the plug is missing and they've been painted. But you have the key which is one good point. It could be repaired by an expert but that might cost more than the cuff. All these things need to be weighed up to determine a value which I would put pretty low. Put it on eBay and you'll get something for it, but make sure you mention the faults.

Why would someone do that if they have the working key? Do you think maybe the plug was stuck or something?

It is now obvious why it has been painted - to cover up the shit job he did

I've had so many damaged cuffs that left me wondering why in the heck did someone do that and the answers usually allude me. $70 give or take is likely a fair ball park...Id pay that mostly to have the key. The cuff is salvageable but after the time and money it wouldn't exactly be a steal. Best of luck.
