Old darby handcuffs

Today I bought a pair of darby non adjustable handcuffs with the orriginal key in an antique shop.
The cuffs are without any signs / brandname of something else,
but the look very much like the Hiatts Darby 104 which I also own.
The brandless cuffs are in perfect working order but all rusted.
I would like to remove the stains.
I have 2 questions:
Is this value increasing or not?
What is the best way to remove the rust stains?

"Brass" is most important, it will take away the rust, leave a nice "patina" and you can be sure not to overclean your cuff.

Thanks for the cleaning suggestions.

Yesterday I used a plastic cleaning sponge and it worked out very well.
When I used WD40 to lubricate the locks, the WD40 made the last rusted stains vanish.

The cuffs looks very much like this model:



One difference is the absence of markings.
Only the key has "3" on it.
