SM Co. Cuffs

I just got a pair or SM Co. Birmingham style cuffs. (keyless)

I've read on the forum about the name and time frame of these cuffs manufacture.
They do appear old although the story goes that these were made around the WWI era.

The stem inside the lock tube is square and rather small in diameter vs others.

I'm just wondering if this make has their own keys that fit only them, or would they be common with Hiatt or other common makes?

Anyone have a spare key?

S.M.Co stands for Security Manufacturing Co. They made many cuffs during WWI. Most of their cuffs are standard Darbies, but they also made Irish 8's and a heavy Boer War style plug 8.

Their Darby keys will interchange with Hiatt and the other major companies.

Makes sense to use the same keys, as you were hoping to sell the cuffs to the same police forces and they'd use one key for an area, so I've read.

Unfortunately none of my other keys work with the SM Co. cuffs.

The Hiatt keys tubes go right over the thread...the shaft is square and kind of small. It is smaller than any of the others keys.

I wonder if Ian would have the thread for this cuff?
