Thompson Handcuffs with D G broad arrow marking

I have nice standard Thompson Darby with a British broad arrow flanked by the initials D G.
Does anyone have any idea what D.G. stands for? Each cuff clearly has this marking on the side of the lock tube.

Depending on where it came from it could be a Department of Gaols. But usually it Is Gaol Department.

These buttons are Gaol Department of Western Australia, Convict Department of UK and Australia, both Queen Victoria Crowns on the buttons, and Penal Department of Victoria, Australia with Queen Elizabeth Crown.
A quick google search shows a few counties use "Department of Gaols" (which gets abbreviated to Gaol Department"

Very nice cuffs. The book "The Broad Arrow" by Ian Skennerton which is mostly markings for factory production, proof, inspection, armourers, unit & issue markings for weapons and swords. In the section on unit & issue markings the C G is listed under Australia-Colonial & State Governments, Tasmania, City Guards.

Sorry about the mistake in the initials being CG and not DG. I searched the book again and he is very specific about periods after letter stampings. The only two D. G. listed refers to the Regular Forces Dragoon Guards and the other D. G. listing was for the Officer Training Corps, Junior Division----Dartford Grammar School. There were no listings for DG without the periods.
