I have made an error the standard CHUBB ESCORT cuffs have 9 not 8 sliders
I must disagree in part with your statement. The CHUBB ESCORT "H" version has 10 sliders.
If you compare a standard set with the conical retainer with the flat retainer of the "H" version you can work out that the extra space is needed for the extra sliders.

I have opened and re keyed a large amount of ESCORT's and not just read about them.
Below is the comments from the CHUBB website regarding the Escort cuffs.
