To my fellow restraint and padlock collector friends,

Thanks to all my friends who attended Indy! We had a great time, and I was for one was glad to be able to attend.
Great displays by Damon, Joshua, and some great safe plates were all seen. Damon had a great police display and some
very rare nippers. Joshua displayed some very rare cuffs. How often can you see a Kimball, Guiteau, and "Griffin" cuff
all in the same case?? We had fun, and we all owe Joe Guinte a huge thank you for supplying the "hospitality room".
It was a pleasure to see Kevin and Kristen again, and everyone else. We all met Arioch who was a first-timer and the
great old stories told made the convention "just what the doctor ordered" for me. Thank you Michael Busch to coming so far to see all of us,
and thank you again for brining the books all that distance to save me some shipping! I bought 8 more letterlocks and guess now I
collect letterlocks as well as handcuffs and Houdini. Thanks Elliot, Paul, Vince, Mark and Mark, Joe and Joe, Michael,
Joshua and Sarah (and Annalise), Ron, Damon, Arioch, Mauri, Karl (and his wife), Chuck Chandler, Gordon, and everyone I may have
omitted now due to being too tired (I slept 5 hours total while there I think).

Bob Dix gave an interesting presentation on how to care for and "patina" our items using commercially available products.
He has shared much of this with me and I've been putting it into practice on repairs and cleaning up cuffs I work on.

In the picture my pants look like I just did a grease job and oil change
on my car. My pants are clean, it has to be a reflection from the table.

Now that I've finally recovered from the weekend I'd like to reiterate what the others have said. WOW! Indy was a truly a VERY enjoyable time! If you weren't able to make to this one you should certainly plan to make the next one. Sure it was fun getting to see, touch, and play with some very rare and interesting restraints, but the real fun was getting to hang out with the other restraint collectors. They are some of the nicest folks you would ever want to meet. In spite of the late hours and lack of sleep, for me the best times were in the hospitality room socializing, swapping stories, sharing information, and chowing down on White Castle burgers. My thanks to everyone who was there, and for those who weren't, I hope you can find a way to make it next year so you too can share the enjoyment.

It was good seeing you again and I am sorry for failing to mention Paul and Karl in my previous post.

Today is my third day back at work again and it is hard to believe that it was last weekend when we all met in Indy!

I would like to thank all of you who were there for making these days very special ones for me, which I forever will remember! What a feeling to be with a group of friends thousands of miles from home!

Surely it is nice to bring home a piece or two for the collection, but if it was only for that we could just exchange our items by mail. By far more important is hanging out together, having fun, talking handcuffs or whatever comes to our mind.

When I started to write this I did not want to mention any names, as all of you are part of the fun. Nevertheless I would like to give special thanks to Joe Giunta for providing us with the hospitality room!

I am afraid I will not be able to make it to Indy every year, but I will come again as soon as possible!

Thanks to every one for a great Indy experience. I remember talking to fellow collectors and hearing the phrase I saw it at Indy. It could not be more accurate. There is not another public place on the planet when you can see such a wide variety of rare and unusual handcuffs. And of course there were lots of cuffs for sale.

A special thanks to those that had a long way to travel - Mark Lyon, Ron Spitz and of course Michael Busch. It was wonderful to see all of you.

INDY WAS AMAZING!!!!! Thank you to everyone!!! Jess and I had an incredible time, and it took a good three days to readjust to "normal" life. You know, the life where some of the most phenomenal cuffs on the planet aren't just down the hall from you, and some of the nicest people you have ever met aren't hanging out in the lobby! So, that's why it took a few days to go through all the stuff and actually edit, post, etc. I STILL can't believe I was able to actually hold some truly legendary handcuffs in my hands, and I REALLY can't believe I gave them back!!! For anyone who has never attended, I just want to point out that you can learn more in an hour with these guys than you will in months of other types of research. I came away with more than just some cool cuffs. I came away with new knowledge, and, more importantly, new friends!

I just got home from Indy after traveling some 13 States (driving) and seeing some early American History in Virgina and Mississippi from the Revolutionary War and Civil War. Will be posting some photos later.

It was great being able to see everyone at Indy. As usual, we all had a fabulous time. Time passes too quickly and the opportunity to meet fellow collectors and swap stories is always time well spent.
