One side note about Eddie Money; before he moved to the West coast and got into music he had trained for the N.Y.P.D. (He came from a Brooklyn cop family.)

Was it common for concert security goons in 1969 to carry cuffs?

The story doesn't say if Eddie was cuffed front or back but sounds like a pretty good feat for him to make it back to Oakland. Try to picture a guy in cuffs walking the Bay Bridge in the middle of the night!

It sounds like Bill Graham, the concert promoter, was the owner of the handcuffs. The security goons were merely holding him still.

It just occurred to me that Eddie may have concocted that whole story about sawing off the handcuffs so as not to embarrass the N.Y.P.D. with his outlandish behavior. If not concealed on his person, Eddie may have had a set of cuffs and keys he trained with in his Oakland home.

In any case, one thing is certain: Eddie and money are not easy to hold on to.
