Steve Santini Escape Challenge

Steve writes that he has quite a challenge lined up.



The picture above is "of a cell I will be trying to break out of on December 9th. The cell is a death row cell in the historic Carleton County Gaol in Ottawa ( In it's prime it was Canada's most secure prison) .It once housed the last man to be publicly executed in Canada. It locks with a steel arm mechanism that secures around the corner out of reach. The bars are also so narrow that you could not even fit a finger through past the first knuckle even if you were to try and reach the locking arm or keyhole around the corner of the wall. In addition to the unique locking mechanism, the cell door will also be chained and padlocked at two points and I will be searched and manacled. A very "tough cell". Pardon the pun!"

Interesting lock, althought hard to tell but it does not look like a Folger-Adams Lock like they use in the US. Any clues as to the type of lock and action(lever vs. pin tumbler)?

It is much more secure than a Folger Adams. Most Folgers are lever locks (although they do make a mogul oversized pin tumbler cell lock cylinder). This particular cell is a lever lock with entrance wards, interior wards and also the lock is out of reach. Very nasty indeed... Steve Santini
P.S. They are also going to add chains and padlocks to further secure the cell door. In effect it will be "triple locked".

It's not in the Library of Congress catalogue (isn't the LoC a legal deposit library?), not in the British Library. I've not tried the German national library, but I don't expect you would find it there.

An ISBN might never have been allocated, in which case the only way you will get to buy this book is directly from the publisher.
