I wanted to chime in here. This is a rare piece, with only 45 documented sets. I have also come into some more information, that only 180 sets were ever made. Another story, verified by two separate people, say that about 100 sets were "recycled" during the War effort for scrap metal in the 1940's. I've seen Clyde's mitts, and think this is a bargain price. They work great, and relatively few have the belly chain. As the saying goes; When you see something rare - don't hesitate. With the fame of this cuff because of Pawn Stars, I've been contacted several times by people looking for these. I just wanted to say I think this is a great investment and fantastic piece to add to any collection. I do have almost enough info for another edition of the book, and am hot on the lead of finding out more about A. L. Elliot, and how he came into his claim that he invented and made the mitts.

Congrats to the lucky buyer. The inventor was indeed a sheriff from Phillipsburg, KS, and ended up retiring near Denver, CO, where Elliot was living. These were dominantly sold at inventor's Congress fairs across the country in the early 1930's. Their story is fascinating.

It may help the seller if they changed the particulars of the auction to allow international bidders. Right now it is set to only USA.
