Funny, I just saw your Antiques Roadshow episode thanks to the link here on Joe's site.
Very nice interview with you and your wife. I liked your wife's input as her perspective of cuff collecting was unique.
As far as my ball and chain episode, I have signed a confidentiality agreement with the producers of the show so I can't answer your answers here.
What I can say to you is that I hope you recorded the show.
If not, I can tell you that an observation was made which occurs as I am exiting the store after the sale of the ball and chain. The spot where I was interviewed from and started my exit from, had a clear shot of me heading to the door.
When the ball and chain was picked up from Chumley (a few seconds later) to be taken to the display case next to the exit door, a bunch of Chumley T-shirt racks suddenly appeared where I was just walking.
I will leave it to you to determine if you think it was live action or if shots were added for entertainment.
I did 3 shows but was an off camera "expert" on a pair of Darby cuffs.
These were in Season 2 and before the Q-Tip guy and his on the spot Houdini history fabrications.
