I own a set of very nice double lock, round ring double-lock Towers handcuffs. They're in excellent working condition with a great patina. Unfortunately, I purchased them without a key, thinking it wouldn't be so difficult to find one. Well, guess what? I desperately need to locate and purchase a key, preferably an original one. Can you help me or can you refer me to someone else who might be able to? Thank you so much for anything anyone can do.

I going to follow along with this one. I have a set of Tower Double lock leg irons with a round key. I also, need to procure a key. Not even sure if they will open? But, I would like to give it a shot. Can be original or remake key. Doesnt matter too much. Thanks!

Contact Ian McColl. He can make both Tower and Judd keys. He is a member of this forum. I'm sure he'll find your post shortly and provide you with his contact info.

I have a set of Tower double lock cuffs, upon further inspection I noticed that a piece of a key has been broken off and is stuck inside, is there any way to remove it?

I've heard that it might be possible to use a magnet to work it out of there.  Towers are great cuffs, though many have had a lot of usage.   I've got the impression they are quite secure, and have a relatively tight tolerance and sophisticated locking mechanism, but being made prior to standardized production methods, they can be finicky.  otherwise, maybe a thin dental pick to jiggle it out? careful not to break that too!

Use a sewing needle about three inches long, attach a magnet to one end and this will slightly magnetize the tip. with the aid of a strong light, you will have to manipulate the bit. There is a chance that there is still a curved piece of the tube of the key shank and this will need to align to the key post to be able to fit back up thru the keyhole. Might take about an hour to do but worth the effort.

I've tried both approaches, sadly it seems that only the toungue is still inside. It seems to have disappeared inside the mechanism. We don't have a proper key so I can't tell if that will affect opening. Also. Any ideas where I might procure a key? or how to pick it? I know that's a bit of a crapshoot...

DON"T try another key in it. The majority of problems with Tower cuff is that they are worn from years of use and can have broken keys in them and then new keys are forced to work as people have no idea of the bits within. thump the cuff around until you loosen the piece and try again, Lay on your back and have the keyhole facing downward so gravity also help. have patience grasshopper.

They're in great shape other than the broken key bit inside one of them. I found a similar key that worked for one cuff, however, the keyhole groove on the other (with the broken key) was a bit narrower than the first one so no go... Any idea how to track one down?

Possibly try a different email server, in case the delivery problem comes from your server? I just got an email from him, earlier today. The last I sent to him, would have been about a week ago. Matt, join the FB page that is posted just above your last post on here. That is Ian's Handcuff keys page. Unfortunately, he does not use FB messanger, so,you would still be contacting him through his email, that I gave you. Maybe, try posting your email on here, to see if he can send you an email, to get the communications started, if your server has a restriction on the emails for whatever reason? Ian does look at this forum, often. Congrats on making the woods chain cuff key! Iv never tried to make one, but i recently handled a pair of wood's chain cuffs. I was able to get a good look at the key. Glad you got one made that works!

Thanks for the further information. I had wanted to contact Ian to see if he had a Wood chain cuff key, but ended up making one myself. Not too difficult, just needed the right outside diameter steel tube stock. Then cut a piece to correct size, drilled to correct pin size, swagged a key handle on one end and tapered the other end. I ended up making several of them for any future purchases of these handcuffs.
